I'm considering a Harmony hub. Is it able to be used on multiple TV's through out the house? There are 4 smart TVs all over the house and I would love to get them all under Alexa/SmartThings integration. 2 LGs, a Samsung and a TCL.
I'm considering a Harmony hub.

You're going to want a hub for each TV.

@hague well that just got expensive

@bcd you can find them fairly cheap on eBay. I've slowly been building my supply. I'm up to 4 at the moment.

@hague from what I can tell it looks like many of the capabilities of the hub will go unused considering that I have ST hub and Echos

@bcd how so? Because you can turn the TV on/off without it already?
by (3.9k points)
@hague all the examples I've seen are showing control over lights and blinds etc as well and we wouldn't be using it for that. I mainly just want on off and content control. It would be ever better if I could integrate with ActionTiles to see what is being watched.

@bcd yeah I dont use any of that either really. It is more for turning everything on and off and getting the right inputs selected. Another option you may want to consider is broadlink. Doesn't directly integrate with ST but you can use virtual switches to create some automations.

@hague wow! Just checked out the Broadlink RM 4 and it looks like it would be perfect.

@bcd check out the rm mini 3

@bcd it will only work with routines. Set a routine to turn volume up , and set a routine to volume down, on/off etc. But it does work. Get the cheaper mini for that only need the pro if you want rf controls for ceiling fans or heaters etc that are controlled by rf remotes

@pahari91277 unless you have some other home automation solution and you can then do anything you want - volume/channel up/down, etc.

@sizable what?
by (3.9k points)
@pahari91277 using a python script called pyharmony you can have it execute any device or activity command you like.

@sizable the broadlink?
by (3.9k points)
That's for the harmony, but there is a similar script for broadlink - python_broadlink I think.

Not unless you buy one for every room. It still uses IR, which is line of sight.

1 Hub / TV, but the Harmony app can control multiple hubs around your house

Gennerally gonna be whatever it can send a signal to ot can control. So most likely one hub for one room.

It's just like using a remote. If you are in living room that remote won't control a TV in bed room from living room.

I use one hub (harmony elite) to control 2 TVs in different rooms. I placed one of the IR extenders in the 2nd room. The only issue I've found so far is the favourite icons the remote displays only show up for the first watch TV activity. Thus, the 2nd TV has to be controlled using channel numbers. Not a problem if you have a decent memory or them visible somewhere. I can also setup different activities for either TV's. Btw, just use a regular audio extension cable if the IR extender cable is too short.
