I've had an RT-n66u for quite a while that has performed superior to the linksys wrt it replaced. I'm just now considering replacing it. And only because I now need a mesh wifi network. I particularly like the web interface of it. I'm about the switch to unifi however.

I’m pretty sure that router is capable of mesh if you add on another asus router.

It does not have the a. i. mesh feature. that was the 88 I believe. Nah Im going to do it right. the unifi stuff is real nice. yeah it is expensive but I believe it to be worth it.

@teter89 Why Unifi?

I feel like it's next level to the asus equipment. After reading the reviews and seeing it in use in other people's iot I think it's the way to go

I read some pretty rough reviews on that line of ASUS routers. Specifically, it sounds like the 2. 4 ghz network is giving out on a lot of people. Have you experienced that?

Sounds like you got lucky! Do a quick google search and you’ll see what I mean. I’m looking for a new router but can’t roll the dice with the large number of poor reviews out there.

@sharkskin6271 Why do you suggest Unifi? I see it in several comments below as well. What is it about Unifi that stands out over other options?

I experienced inconsistent wireless connectivity with an RT-N66U. switched things up with a Unifi setup and have found that to be more consistent.
