Question about inovelli red series switches and smarthings. I understand how to set up the notifications using the led light strip on the switch, but, when someone chages the state of the switch by hitting the button it clears the notification and changes the led strip to blue. I realize they label them as notifcations, but I was hoping to use the LED as a status indicator for door locks and garage door status. Any idea if you can set it to where the LED doesn't change if the switch is pushed?

Great q! I did a lot of Googling and it seems from what I could see, that the ceo Eric recently released a firmware to fix this an other bugs but to get that firmware in to the switch it looks to be fairly techncial and it’s beta. So it’s a known bug that may take a little more time to flush out. Another issue I have is if I rename “notification 1” To Inovelli Red flash” it stops it working.

Thanks for that Jonathan, been setting these things up all day and I was really disappointed when the light changed when I hit the switch. I will do a firmware upgrade at some point if that will fix it though. I am triggering the lights using automatons instead of the smart lighting app, which is awesome to be able to have a green light tell me that all my doors are locked and the garage is closed.

@liger yes I am making mine a dim red when house armed and green for 1 in the morning when disarmed. Flashes blue if there is motion inside the house at night (means kids are awake and wondering the halls when they should be in bed). But I cannot rename the notification without it disconnecting so I have to write down what each one does to reference back.

@arbalest, I was just reading through that actually, looks like I need a zwave usb stick.

@liger yes doable but a bit of a Mission. I wonder if when it’s official and not a beta if we will get this a normal way officially. Seems odd if you cannot get a firmware over the air. I just installed the 2nd device handler for “child”. Not sure what that does but I did it.

Yeah I am going to move on to my next problem, right now trying to get one of my switches to work with the inovelli ilumin bulbs with local control disabled. I went through the zwave association steps, everything shows up properly, but the bulb will not turn on and off using the switch.

@liger sounds like a pain. I have only ever used smart bulbs where the switch was always forced to stay on allowing the light To retain power and turn off and on per your hub / automations.

I’m also waiting for a simpler solution. I remember a post where someone had a solution outside of Inovelli using webcore but can’t find it.
