Review after upgrading from Netgear Arlo to Arlo Pro 3. I'm a fan of Arlo for it's wireless abilities that allow one to place or move a camera anywhere within WiFi range. It can take two or more tries to find the best place to mount a camera. Obviously, moving a wireless camera is much easier than one that is hardwired. Arlo consistently gets good reviews. The original Arlos were more sensitive to motion, almost to a fault. The driveway camera used to catch every vehicle passing on the street. The Pro 3 catches some larger vehicles or ones closer to the driveway but not every single car, so less battery drainage! The driveway camera does seem more sensitive to motion on either side, so it catches people coming up the walkway from the sidewalk toward the porch and our neighbor parking in their driveway, but it also catches animals the original Arlos never picked up on. Who knew we have cats and rabbits that traverse the upper driveway area? Not me until we got the Pro 3. Our side yard camera in a birdhouse near a tree used to catch every leaf and branch movement, but the Pro 3 has less issues with leaves while being more sensitive to movement -- it seems to detect motion even before I open the side garage door to take trash out. Likewise, our porch camera catches people walking up to the porch much quicker than the original Arlos. Sound and light never seemed important to me, but I have come to appreciate both. The sound recording is quite good even though the camera is some distance away. I also have come to like the light for the driveway and side yard cameras, but not for the porch camera lit by a porch light. The camera lights on the Pro 3 provide a much better picture than the infrared lighting on the originals. I got tired of the expense and hassle of having to remove cameras to replace batteries so I thoroughly enjoy the external recharge port. I use a USB power bank and can charge the cameras without removing them! The Arlo Pro 3 is 2K and provides a much improved picture. I also like that the base has a USB port so I'm not dependent on the cloud. Glitches happen and I noticed once that a video was recorded on my memory stick but not on the cloud. I also discovered that the video is proprietary for Arlo, so you can't just take the memory stick out and plug it into a computer to review video. We all have different needs and Arlo may not be perfect for everybody, but they have suited my needs. A relative has a wired-in multi-camera system professionally installed and recently had to have two cameras repaired for half the cost I paid for the entire Arlo Pro 3 system ($500 at Costco for 3 cameras and base) so any system can have issues -- and the professional system costs thousands of dollars compared to the ease and affordability of Arlo. I hope this review is helpful.
