@
foulmouthed,
apologies for being dumb, but what do you mean by that. Assuming I have internet coming into a single router, would I use an ethernet port on the router to extend another router? Thanks.

you could use an Ethernet port from the router or from a switch or hub that’s connected to the router. Some routers can be used if they can be setup to extend a wireless network. Or you can use a wireless access point. Wiring the access points through to your router is the most reliable, best performance and typically most difficult way to expand WiFi. Look at Ubiquiti UniFi at ui. com for a really good product and more options.

I seldom hesitate to run an ethernet cable to a remote spot, like I did to my garage. I have a basement that usually makes it convenient. Perhaps trickiest is making up the connectors on the ends. I do rely on two ASUS routers to form a wi-fi mesh.

OMG, Google WIFI mesh is super expensive, why? Is it working like hub extender as well? Normally wifi extenders are at 20 Eu price.

If you don’t want to put it on two different networks and you can’t wire it, look at mesh WiFi. Yes, it typically costs more than a single router or an extender. There are lots to choose from. We use AMPLIFI and it’s great.

Depending on how massive your home is. I have a 2500sqft router in my 1500sqft home and I get full strength signal at the end of my driveway now.

Mesh systems have their pro's and con's. Im an old school network guy, so I like the routers to really fine tune the settings.

Google WiFi mesh network. Easy to install, you can reset it on your phone and it’s reliable. We have it in all our vacation rentals.
