What will happen when the classic app stops working and we have to pair a new Xiaomi sensor or one goes offline? The new app cannot add this sensors. How can we ask Samsung smartthings to release the documentation for create dth for the new app, or for them to pick custom dth and add them natively to the new app?

Hopefully the new up will be updated with all the functions of the Classic app before they take the Classic app offline

@terrie Thanksng lets hope because I would surely be disappointed if I couldn’t use all that I have now.

@hokkaido with that in mind, I don't believe all the panicked speculation that Classic is going anywhere any time soon. There would be a revolt. Samsung ain't that stupid. I hope

It isn't hope there is activity. There is a monster thread on the community site right now where actual ST staff are answering actual questions from real people. (it's got like 1000 entries at this point) The one theme over and over again from them: Classic is not going anywhere tomorrow. Yes it's planned for retirement but the intent is to make sure feature parity exists with as much as possible before it finally goes away. And they're setting expectations in months. Not days or weeks. They go on to ask us to try things in new and give input when we find stuff that doesn't work.

So the catchall does not work in IDE with the new app? Or can you no longer add/update sensors through IDE and have them work in the new app?

I have them all working, but they only pair with the classic app, what will happen when classic app stops working, the new app cannot pair devices with custom dth.

IDK, have only paired mine using IDE and Catchall with the classic app. Just assumed you could still use the IDE method. :(

The new app can't even deal with Samsung's own smart plug so I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I was a bit surprised to see it suggested that a device with a custom device handler could not be paired with the new app, given that the new environment still uses Groovy based device handlers for Zigbee and Z-Wave devices and creating a new one still involves the IDE. So, out of curiosity, I deleted a spare Aqara vibration sensor from the system and attempted to pair it using the new app (I don't have the Classic app installed). I succeeded. It was a bit of a battle, but by no means the longest battle I have had with the Aqara sensors, not by a number of hours. It installed itself with the correct device handler. So, on the whole, I am fairly relaxed about the situation.

New app can pair them just as bad/well as the Classic app.

Mine never pair with the new app, got mine paired with the classic without the catchall method. In the new it stays ages and can't find no device. In the classic it finds them in seconds, but if you say the new app can pair well I will try again, that way I can be less worried about the future of my devices.

Xiaomi devices are not ZigbeeHA compliant so you can't expect SmartThings to do anything about it. That's going to fall on the ST community to develop a DTH for it.

There are already DTH's for Xiaomi devices and have been for a while and they work in the new app. It's the new app that is causing issues with like pairing.
