I thought i saw somewhere that inovelli's new switches can execute local, but i cant find it again. I know theres a custom device handler that you can install for added features, but im trying to move to as close to 100% local execution as possible. can anyone confirm if the new ones will execute local with a stock device handler?

If you mean making changes via the switch vs. Through say smartthings then yes. Check out their YouTube page, they have some short videos on how to make changes via the switch. You more or less use the config button, then it changes going from there

I mean if automations using Smart Lighting will execute local, instead of executing in the cloud service

They should with Generic zwave switch or dimmer handler. But then you lose led and multi tap features.

Any custom DH = cloud execution

@ides8 right. I'm curious about the stock handler working with the switches

The stock handler is simply a generic Z-Wave switch. No multi-tap or notifications.

Ok. For 30 bucks it might be worth it, even without those features. It's easy enough to change the device type if the custom handler isnt quite fast or if I don't get enough features with the stock one

I use custom on all my GE's. Rarely have issues.

Had to take mine out, when trying to use the smart bulb feature the lag was so long. Looking for a new use for mine currently.

What Z-Wave bulbs were you using?

@ides8 I have osram zigbee retro fits. They work great with a device that can be local.

The new Inovelli switches will directly control Z-Wave bulbs without the hub. Doesn't get more local than that!

You'll first need to set up a custom DH or their smart app that will allow you to set association groups on the device. After set, you can switch back to a generic DH. You can do the same with the Z-Wave Tweaker DH.

@ides8 osrams aren't ZWave, they're Zigbee. They respond to a generic Zigbee bulb DTH but they will not be abeto participate in a ZWave association group.

@anatolia7046 I understand this. We're talking about Z-Wave.

@ides8 understand, just someone mentioned Osram bulbs. There will be someone out there who doesn't make the distinction. ;)
