I’m new to this but have 30+ years IT experience. I wanted to turn on my dehumidifiers in a workshop if the humidity got too high. I bought a Meross garage door opener and it worked great so tried their temperature/humidity sensors only to find their app won’t control them and they said use IFTTT. I have them working but not reliable. Then I saw the Aeotec Multisensor 6 and bought a SmartThings V3 Hub. After a bit of trouble adding them I got it to work as I wanted but only if the Hub was in the workshop which is fifty feet from the house. SmartThings won’t let you have more than one Hub in any location which is stupid. I don’t want separate apps for multiple outbuildings. I have Ubiquiti Unfi switches and Access Points and all work great in all my buildings. Smart gadgets all seem to want hubs and work with Z-Wave or Zigbee wireless (rf? ) proprietary links. I’ve ordered some SmartThings plugs (outlets) to act as repeaters but not sure they will see my Hub in the house. It’s all very frustrating not being able to simply use the Wi-Fi network that I have built. When will we see dominant players and standards in this fledgling industry? Any advice on best Wi-Fi based kit or ways to extend SmartThings very much appreciated. Thanks Nigel
