I set up an automation on SmartThings that makes sure the garage door and all locks are CLOSED & LOCKED every night.

Smartthings to monitor and Life 360 on phone to unlock. I've been using it for years, no problems. It unlocks the front door when close to the house, automatically re-locks via Smartthings hub within 5 minutes but that time is adjustable too.

We use Schlage, Webcore, and Smartthings every day with our garage entry door. It locks as soon as one of us leaves, and unlocks when one of gets home. Since it's behind our garage door, I'm not too concerned about it unlocking too soon.

I don't see the security risk behind unlocking based on presence arriving. Are people worried about someone stealing your phone and robbing your house somehow knowing your phone will automatically unlock your door when it arrives?

It's more that geofencing covers such a wide area that it's easy to unlock your door when you aren't actually home.

It's simply a matter of adjusting your geofence area so that doesn't happen. I live in a subdivision. It's not often I'm cruising around the neighbouring streets as I'm just passing through. And even if I did, the door would lock again within seconds as I'd be exiting the geofence area as I'd be passing through. So again I don't see it as an issue unless we expect a thief to be tracking us and knowing those 5-10s that the door would be unlocked. They'd kick it down before going through that trouble

Problem I see with life 360 is jyst how large an area the consider close to home.
