Does Smartthings connect support health/device online/offline notifications? I have a webcore piston that notifies me when a device changes status but it only works with Smartthings classic app. Has anything change with Smartthings connect that allows me to use it so I can delete the classic?

Why not keep both? I have no intention of deleting Classic until I’m convinced the new app can do everything I need, or I am forced to do so! BTW, I haven’t found a way In the new app to turn off device health, I have several devices that show offline although they’re perfectly healthy.

Samsun just released a API for the new app a couple weeks ago as well as some updated documentation for their new developer workspace. In theroy this should mean that custom apps and device handlers will be able to be more easily updated to work with the new app. Keep an eye otu for updates of your custom apps , but this all depends how willing developers are to work with the new stuff.

I'm a bit confused as to why your webcore piston wouldn't continue to work. It doesn't integrate with the classic app. It integrates with smartthings directly. I don't think any of that will stop working at all.

From what I have read, the webcore piston notification for device check ONLY works with classic app. when I remove the classic the notifications stop.

I'm as confused as @dynode is. The apps shouldn't be in the loop.

@navarro correct. Please post the piston. Webcore is interacting with your ST cloud not the app and should continue running happily no matter what. You may not have the piston setup to push messages in a way NewApp understands though.

$status should work fine. It is just device. getStatus() in Groovy. You could add HUB_DISCONNECTED and INACTIVE to cover more of the 'offline' options though. Most of my devices that show offline in the new app are HUB_DISCONNECTED when I check.

Something must have changed with the new app. Just deleted the classic and the "device check" piston still works and the notifications are flowing thru. sorry for the confusion. Thanks
