I’ve got both a SmartThings button, and an ikea tradfri dimmer button, and currently having problems it. I’ve recently changed the lights I had assign to the button, but now every time I press it, it triggers both the newly assigned light, and the one I had on there. Any ideas of how to overcome this? Only thing I could think of was resetting the buttons, but wanted to see if there was a different method first.

If you are using advanced button controller, make sure when you unselect the previous devices that you pause for a few seconds after exiting that screen for the changes to save.

@mullin never heard of it, so don’t think so, thank you though

@schatz what are you currently using to assign devices to your buttons? Advanced button controller is a Smart app that works locally (in your hub vs in the cloud) and if the device being controlled isn't using a custom device handler, there is very little latency from a button press and the device action.

Resetting is the only good and certain way.

@ulick I think I’ll give that ago, it’s really been bugging me

I’ve made a frame for trådløs dimmers. But the only thing is that I think are slow to react when pushed. Then I made a scene for every button on trådløs. 4 each. It helped a bit, but still I am not happy about the response time.

@ulick which hub version are you running?

@mullin I am running V2. About 5 years old. bought this from Ireland before it was launched for the rest of Europe. Do you think that is the reason for the slow responses?

@ulick I also have V2. I ask because V2/V3 can process smartapps like Advanced Button Controller (ABC) locally, while V1 cannot and has a delay due to processing in the cloud. What devices are you controlling with the scenes? If those devices use custom device handlers, they will execute in the cloud and cause some delay. My Tradfri dimmers and on/off/dimmer switches work near-instantly when controlling devices that have local device handlers and have a delay of a few seconds when controlling custom device handler dimmers. What do you use to map your dimmer buttons to scenes? I use ABC so it can run locally, but I could also use WebCoRE, which gives me more options, but runs in the cloud and has the associated processing delays.

@mullin/activity" class="qa-user-link">mullin Wow! I am quite new to the SmartThings system and I have not heard about the ABC. But will try it out now. I control several lamps in a room with the Trådløs dimmer, so instead of controlling only one lamp with one button, I control several. Actually it is the same as this link.  For about 3 years now I’ve had the Swedish Nexa system at home. But now i am converting to ST. Thanks @mullin/activity" class="qa-user-link">mullin for taking time to explaining your system.

@ulick Aha! ST added support for that remote last year, but you can only assign the button events in the new ST app, while I've been using the classic ST app and the ABC smart app for all my button/scene-triggering devices.
