Thinking about making the switch to Ecobee from Nest due to the ever decreasing compatibility between ST and Nest. Question for Ecobee owners -- with my Nest remote sensors, I can dictate which room I want the thermostat to use as the source of truth at a given time. From what I have read about Ecobee, it uses the sensors more to create a balance between all locations and/or uses motion to determine which rooms it should prioritize based on your presence. My wife and I are really particular about temperature when we sleep, and I want to make sure it is absolutely measuring the temp in the bedroom when I'm sleeping -- when I may not be moving enough for it to sense my presence in that room. Is there a way to set the thermostat to do this, whether through the app or through ST integration?

In the Comfort Settings, there is a Home, Away, and Sleep. For the sleep, it's set to just the bedroom sensor.

Excellent -- can I automate it switching between modes at a given time or do I have to set that manually?

The Room Sensors detect which rooms are occupied and adjusts accordingly. It will create a schedule to switch between the modes but there are a lot of other variables including Smart Home/Away and other automated ways to switch between the modes.

Keep in mind during sleep mode occupancy is ignored.

@formulary Which doesn’t make sense because it requires you to have a sensor associated with the mode.

Yes. You can select which sensors are active during which modes. So that you and your wife can have the temperature as you would like it in your bedroom when you sleep. It can ignore other sensors as necessary.

We have liked our Ecobee very much. The 3 is the same as the 4 (different size) other than Alexa.

In each mode, you can choose which sensors the thermostat takes into account.
