I think I found my answer. It will only work via IFTTT.

@aboral It will integrate on new ST app. Under the switch section.

But I never switched over. I’ve still been waiting for the email.

If I switch to the new app can I continue using the old app as well?

Are you using smartthings as your primary ecosystem?

It think it works, but can’t automate opening with ST.

@crabstick4604 This won’t be good then.

@aboral the only ST compatible controller that allows opening is the GD00z

It works very well with SmartThings via IFTTT. I created a virtual switch called ‘Garage Open’ and use it to trigger IFTTT to open the garage when I switch it on and close when I switch it off. You can do vice verse also so that it stays in sync when you open it manually. Easy.

Why don’t just buy a qubino to do that?

I’ll check this out. First I’m hearing of it.

I have it working with Smartthings. The new app is best when connecting to Smartthings. Be careful where you place the device, the WiFi interferes with the GDO remotes and shortens the effective range the closer you mount the device to your GDO. Google Assistant voice control is horrible. Most of the time it fails if you don't pronounce Meross in a specific way.

There is a good deal on it, but it looks like a headache so I’ll pass.

Very easy to setup and works very well with SmartThings using a virtual switch.

I would never put door locks on a wifi network. Zigbee or Z-wave and a separate, secure hub okay, but not wifi, too unreliable and insecure.

Why not MyQ?

I opted to install the Meross device over MyQ, which I have as well, because I have 20 to 30 other Meross devices and it didnt require any additional work to pull into the Google ecosystem.

I set this up for my gate. It’s an off brand gate opener so obviously it’s not gonna work with myQ. So far it seems to work pretty well. It reconnects quickly when the power goes out and haven’t had any trouble with it. It does integrate into SmartThings but as stated above it uses the new app.

I’ve had the Meross garage controller installed for over a year now, integrates with Alexis and Google Home out of the box. You do have to program a PIN number to open remotely via voice control. Works well with Android Auto.
