Any old generic Chinese roll off eBay ($16) + an H801 wifi controller ($5) flashed with custom firmware. Got them all over my house

This is a very common question. I'm also not a fan of adding more wifi devices to my network. Trying to stick to zwave and lastly zigbee if necessary

@gereron what's main advantage over zwave or zigbee as opposed to wifi. Outside of the obvious that is. Does a few wifi items make that much of a difference? I have a ton of wifi stuff and have been considering replacing with zproducts, but I have not seen much of a drop off in my wifi performance. Now we do have the ultra fast measures around 400 mbs

@tosspot but home automation Is still better with zwave and zigbee.

@tosspot you didn’t mention battery powered stuff.

PSO. Don't get Merkury from Walmart unless you're ok with using more of your wifi. Additionally, they are only controlled via the app and Alexa, Google Assistant, etc. I also want a button for control, but I seem to be out of luck. I will be fetching some Sylvania Smart+ strips for the under-cabinet task, paired with a couple of Smartthings buttons.
