I am finally getting somewhere now with set up. For some reason I am not getting email notifications for ANYTHING when it opens or closes? I see my email in the gear icon under Samsung account. Looks like all the items are checked. No notifications in that email account or junk mail. Any thoughts?

Notifications aren’t sent via email. Only push notifications in the app or text messages (if in the USA) depending on how you setup the automation.

Ok so I have to set up automation. I didn’t know I had to do this. SO much to learn!

yeah, I think the only automatic notifications are water sensors and low batteries. Tap the + menu in the upper right and explore SmartApps and Automation menus.

Many ways to achieve this. Under the security smart apps there is one called Notify Me which can do rich notification in the app, SMS and some other options. Depending on the items used you can also get emails and many other notification through IFTTT.

On the new app. I don’t see “Notify me” under smart apps?

It's still worth installing the classic app for things just like this. You can do it as an automation in the new app, but will only by notifications via the app. Otherwise there's WebCore, but thats a whole learning curve all in itself.
