Can anyone reccomend a Z wave breaker or switch for an electric pool heater? I would prefer it to also track energy usage.

I use the GE one - 220v 40a with power metering. It's built much better than the Aeotec one. I use it on my electric hot water heater since my airbnb is not occupied full time.

The GE one seems more robust, but it also costs 50% more, so I guess you have to outweigh pros and cons.

@mandolin33 yep.

The GE one is very robust and has worked flawlessly for us - I've had GE wall switches die, but this has been very good.

How many amps does it draw?

@mandolin33 I forgot to jot down the amperage. I will check when I get home. I’m figuring 40-50.

@mandolin33 I just looked up my heater online. It’s hooked up to a 50 amp breaker right now.

@godbey60915 I’ve been looking at that but the reviews are mixed. Can you confirm if it’s good?

@nerves345 this is the one I use on my pool for almost two years now has been flawless

I use this to switch power to two electric car chargers (each draws 3. 3kW) to take advantage of cheaper nighttime time-of-use power cost. Has been flawless for 3 months so far, but with the default device handler the power reporting isn’t instant - ActionTiles will sometimes show power draw even when it’s turned off.
