Does anyone know any alternative? Hue is not a option for the price.

I use RGBW floods. They're indoor lights, but I sealed the seam and use them outside. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On the ground for uplighting? Pics?

Warm white, 1% brightness. This is what I normally do when it's not a holiday or something special.
by (850 points)
Rainbow, 100% brightness. These are super bright.

$9 stake landscape light fixture from Lowe's with one of those outdoor extension cords with the plugs every 8 feet or so. It looks like I didn't seal this one, but it made it though winter in Michigan so whatever.

My only complaint is that they're floods and not spots. I have to be careful how I point them so they don't light up the neighbors' houses as well. I've been thinking of getting some PVC or drain tile elbows to act as baffles to prevent flooding the whole neighborhood. You can actually see purple on the neighbor's house in my photo. Lol

I've had these as well for years and they have held up. I haven't found anything close for alternatives.

@prong glad to hear some long term reviews I have only had mine a week but I absolutely love them

I’m not a fan and I have a bunch of them. I can’t get them to reliably work. Once they lose connection to the hub or power they flip to a horrible pink color .

Why don't you use a gledopto ZigBee rgb light strip that's outdoor rated? can get quite a long roll for a fair price

Can you daisy chain these full sets, and if so, how many sets can be in one string? Thanks
by (10.2k points)
Yes and I think 3 of the add on shorter strings. You could prob Google it to confirm.
by (560 points)
Yeah, I saw where you can add 3 of the add-on strings. Just curious if you could do the same with the 14Ft strings.
by (1.3k points)
Expand your accent lights with expansion kits, sold separately. Maximum suggested length is 28 total feet (3 expansion kits).
by (660 points)
You can Daisy chain two full sets. Or 3 add ons. Either way 28 ft is the max without changing out the power supply
by (4k points)
I have 2 full sets together. no issues. Extensions are a rip off unless you just need a 3 ft run for some reason. Buy full kits.
by (560 points)
@likelihood Yep, my thought exactly. Thanks for the info. Glad to know I can chain 2 full sets together.
by (4k points)
@felix9 yup, and get a bonus power supply and zigbee driver. You could even use the extra as a repeater if necessary.
by (2k points)
I have 4 full sets on one power supply. But I keep it under 50% who knows how long they will work though.
by (1.3k points)
I run 3 sets on a single power supply on one spot and run 2 sets on the other areas.

These are great, I bought a bunch and put more than the “so called limit” together and they work great. They always show unavailable on my smartthings hub but always respond to commands and automations. The one thing tbat sucks is I can’t set them to automatically cycle colors.
by (2k points)
How many do you have on one power supply? I just I have 4 full sets on one power supply but I haven't gone over 50% brightness
by (2.2k points)
@sherlynsherm I have 6
by (2k points)
@gereron Salvemini Damn, how long have you had them and do you go full brightness?
by (2.2k points)
@sherlynsherm I have had them since January, and yes I do. They won’t automatically go to 100% brightness with automations but they will manually.

There's really no other viable option as alternative for the Sylvania/Osram light strips.

Anyone know how to make them color wave?
by (2.2k points)
@sherlynsherm Now, that I would love to know lol. I want them do the slow fade between all the colors.
by (2k points)
@gereron Salvemini just thinking I could be festive for the holidays with little effort.
by (2.2k points)
@sherlynsherm Yeah, I have them around the outside of my pool screen house so it lights up the screens. It would add some nice ambience.

I have about 8 strings of these. At the $74 price, too expensive. at $22? Perfect. I use them for landscape lighting and to light up the railings on my deck. as long as you have a stable zigbee network, there aren't any problems. Have used them on both Smartthings and Home Assistant

So do these just plug into a wall outlet or do you have to run it to a breaker/electrical line?
by (660 points)
@barbosa wall outlet
by (520 points)
@biramous thanks. Was just curious how people were wiring around their roofline without having a ton of wires hanging outside.
by (4k points)
@barbosa I believe I have seen some do a hard wire install on videos. sure it is doable with a little knowledge and the right parts.
