This has cost the travel industry dearly, all the hotels, coach companies, cruise companies, airlines, car hire companies, train companies so much money, if they can even recoup and not go to the wall, they have to try and get money back, it is totally understandable. And why people should always try to amend rather than cancel for a refund.

That's easier said than done, as the only dates we were offered was up to Feb 2021 ! and we needed April 2021 ! - due to the fact we were going to Cuba and the best time to go is April, due to the weather

Yes and they know people will probably pay it so they can have a holiday! Was expecting that!

If no one buys it'll soon come down!

@alkylation or they could just go bust, don't forget this is not just the tour operators, think of everyone in the chain that has probably written off all their profit and money making for a whole year. Not many of us can survive without a whole year's wages

Government advice is not to book any holidays or flights at all at the moment . Even for the future . (What was said earlier today in an article)

Once this is over we should be supporting the UK. Government advice not to book overseas holidays

Can't see why people still want 2 go on holiday any where this year abroad this must be the same people that just can't stay safe at home lol some people are just mad :))

@taylor9850 some of those people you call stupid are going on holiday to visit family abroad so there’s nothing stupid about that!

@lawrencelawrencium loads of places abroad have tourism as pretty much their only source of income, I don't see what's wrong with supporting them?! I mean, I won't be holidaying abroad OR in the U. K., cos I can't afford either, but still ‍♀️

We due to go to turkey in end of june global travel been banned indefinatley. don't book anything. The tour operators will gladly take your money to float there boat. but while there is a government warning on, you'll get nothing back
by (2.2k points)
@alkylation Walsh O'Hara to float their boat? Maybe to pay wages and keep people in jobs?

@lyns24774 . Government doing that by furlough
by (1.1k points)
@lyns24774 and will you be rushing to get on a plane that's stood for months . Our cars 3rd week lock down and new battery. Won't start and damp weather brakes seizing. wer in a valley. So if it's 12 weeks or idefinate wi planes not running ryanair are the only ones keeping their planes running on ghost flights. No passengers Google it. so think about it. before you attack
by (2.2k points)
@alkylation Walsh O'Hara really? Have you looked into furlough? Because it hardly covers much.

@alkylation Walsh O'Hara I work in the industry and I would take my chances thanks.

I wouldn't book anything while there's a global restriction indefinatley halt. your insurance won't cover and I'm damn sure credit card won't either.
by (760 points)
@alkylation Walsh O'Hara I'm certainly not booking anything during the restrictions - I'm just looking at prices for next year.

The government have been totally irresponsible to a whole industry, saying not to book indefinitely. I have friends who are self employed, that have fallen though the cracks. There are businesses that will go to the wall. What is covid19, a very contagious flu like virus, but it is nothing like Ebola or Swine flu, which killed most people who got it.

@lyns24774 is not about what it is or how serious - is the pressure is putting on the NHS. It's spreading fast & it is serious to the people who have it!
