Look at Cruise America! Doing a round trip works out more cost effective as you don’t have to pay one way fees and also availability is better if you are returning to the same depot. California is a classic motorhome holiday! Depends what you want to see! Also a loop from Vegas taking in the National Parks is popular

We hired a motor home from Cruise America and travelled round Florida for two weeks. We picked up and dropped off in Miami. We planned our route before we went and booked all our campsites in advance. This isn’t always essential but we felt it was better and that’s what I would do again.

If you want to go "one way", check with manufacturers. A couple of years ago some friends of mine picked up a new Winnebago in Iowa and delivered it to Fairbanks, Alaska. Had 2 weeks to get there. fee was about half price.
