Hey!  I’m booked to go Marmaris Turkey in September me and my two kids ages 10 and 5!Hey! I’m booked to go Marmaris Turkey in September me and my two kids ages 10 and 5! My friend was coming as well but cancelled due to this virus! If it’s all ok in Sept would I be safe travelling to Turkey alone I’ve never been before usually Spain or Canaries? I can change with TUI another destination for next year but just wondered what everyone thoughts was I’ve never gone on holiday on my own with kids b4

Turkey is amazing, the people are probably the nicest in the world. We went last year for the first time. I loved it, so family oriented. X

How can you change your date / destination? I looked on their app want to change this September to September 2021 but no dates displayed

@hal78 in just done as you said and it worked thanks but I'm absolutely gutted no holidays from my local airport to Dalaman next year only Turkey destination is Alanya don't like it there . Been going Marmaris last 7 years need to find another destination

I had to play around with removing the destination first and then adding airports and then going back to destinations after! Think so many people are trying to amend bookings just be system might be playing up as I was looking again for next year and after I picked a place and when next place kept saying issues with site x

Depends where you're going. You'll be fine in a resort, if a big city then just take the normal precautions.

@hal78 I went to mamaris and it’s fine. You get hassled by shop workers to buy things but you get that most places you visit. I kindly refused and carried on with my day. They’re good as gold xxx

@microstructure much easier to say no to shop owners than places like Egypt. As you say, just say no and they're fine

I went to majorca last year on my own with my son. It was fine and got talking to a couple mums with their kids so ended up spending time with them. Didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

@marbling yeah it doesn't have to be paid until next year. Like the other lady said though if you wait for them to cancel you won't lose your deposit. I just didn't want to wait and wanted to get something booked for next year before all the holidays go. I also got free child place so the holiday next year is cheaper than the one this year. x

@hal78 thats good then. It comes down to do you take the risk and leave it or change for next year. To be honest when I rebooked for next august, it was cheaper as I got a free child place aswell. Its whatever you feel comfortable doing. x

@marbling we booked online, but we’ve also got a holiday with Jet2 booked for July that hasn’t been cancelled yet so we’re hanging on in there until it is then we’ll rearrange it to next year All the advice is not to cancel yourself wait for them to announce it xx

I’ve booked to go Marmaris in August hopefully we’ll get to go lol Marmaris is lovely the people are so friendly, u’ll b fine. I’ve met many single mums out there n they love it x

Marmaris is my favourite place, I have been a few times. About 6 years ago I took my daughter 4, my brother and sister who were 8 & 9 and my step daughter who was 14 on my own and loved it. Most of the places are really friendly and helpful. If you go to some markets they may pester you but just be firm if your not interested and they leave you alone xx

@hal78 Wroe It’s just for a week and I’ve booked a resort with slides and entertainment so prob would not leave only for beach day and lunch out would not go out at night alone anyway x

@hal78 you will be fine, I was nervous but we had the best time, we went out on boat trips, safaris and water parks but we went for 3 weeks. There’s a little water park on the beach with beach bar next door if you go down to the beach x

@hal78 there’s loungers in the Center and everything is at the side or I front of you, try and get to the front of the queue and grab one of those, it’s never been really busy when I’ve gone x

I went alone with my son I went to somewhere I had been before so i knew the area we had the best time. I did feel abit on a night time that people looked at us as in a way to say or they are on their own but maybe that was just me over thinking x

@winebibber89 Yes maybe overthinking I meet loads of single mums and on holiday I’m really chatty and enjoy getting to know new people so I would like to think I could find someone to join in the evenings for a cocktail or two x

No offence but you aren’t going to Turkey in September, I’m not sure why people think this is just going to clear up, they are already prepping people in their statements; we will lockdown due a further 3 weeks and review, meaning another possible extension. I believe the Netherlands is already saying this will last to 2021 at least.

@haga55 it’s not speculation, social distancing and lockdown is the only thing working, China is only just opening up, and they are already seeing an increase in cases. I would re-book any holidays to the following year, if people want to sensible.

@proboscidean4816 Great I'm glad you told me, please go and do some research as to the impact of this virus on the world right now. it is helpful, i'm telling her it would be more sensible to rebook to the following year. Its only 14 days until May, the extension is until 4th of May, they extension will be continued for 3 weeks after i can almost guarantee that, which takes you to 1st of June. You really think things are going to just go back to normal when Vunerable people have been told to self isolate for 12 weeks. We are looking at Social Distancing being in place at least until the end of the year in order to get a Vaccine produced and distributed.

@proboscidean4816 that’s the issues people aren’t seeing at the moment, we’re all blindly looking at the death rate, and not the damage it’s doing to the economy across the globe, Travel isn’t going to be the same once this Virus is contained.

Iv travelled too turkey on my own with the kids before aslong as they got a pool they were fine haha !
