So the kids and me are going to italy in August, apparently the coronavirus is out there and some towns in veneto (where we're going) have been quarantined, I know it's ages away but I'll be gutted if we can't go, anyone else going somewhere where the virus is and wondering what'll happen? I'm not particularly worried about the virus, as it's going to spread everywhere by the look of it

Tenerife had its case ages ago, all isolated, so should be fine!

Have you got your travel insurance yet? If not I would in case it gets cancelled. Most travel claims are actually made before anyone gets to their holiday x

Were going to Rome in 4 weeks, a little worried but not so much about the virus as we have good immune systems and its just like a common cold to able and well bodied people. Its the inconvenience of being quarantined would be a nightmare xx

@doody but if you get it you will have to be quarenteaned regardless of a good immune system x It might not really affect you but you could carry it to so many people that it could kill x

I’ve booked a cruise to Italy in June and have been told that the travel Insurance will not cover the corona virus
by (560 points)
@diatribe33 I would argue that if you paid for ins before anyone knew about the virus. Sounds like they are moving the goal posts.

@duckett35903 could try that thanks

Depends . read the policy wording , diseases will have terms in the wording . also if you've got cheap and cheerful insurance, please don't expect it to pay out .

@tribune it was an annual policy I bought so will check it

For me personally I wouldn't go. IF it's still there. I have asthma so I dont want to risk anything never mind my 4 kids BUT that's just me, I've had the flu once in my life (I know coronavirus is not the flu) but my gosh worst 3 weeks of my life, I hope it is gone by summer time

I'm 22 weeks pregnant. Due to go to venice on Saturday and we have decided not to go. Being pregnant it's an added worry and we don't want me stressing. My immune system is lower and wasn't the best before pregnancy. We arnt sure if we will get anything back or not x

I'm off to Vietnam in July. The thing is I don't think you're travel insurance will pay out if you cancel before the world health organisation advises not to travel. I'm not cancelling unless I have to

Was going on 14th March to Venice cancelled accomodation but not flight as Ryan Air dont cancel but only rearrange or offer different destination. Its thought of being quarentined on return.
by (500 points)
@van9 that's what ours is too. With being pregnant then having to come home and and quarentine the when we return we have a daughter at home too that would have to stay away if we did. I'm not fussed for the money back hoping airline and accommodation will help though x
by (380 points)
@zea7698 have you decided to give it a miss. Our accomodation was pay at hotel. So not lost out there and flights where only £86 return for 3.
by (500 points)
@van9 yes we arnt going. Airline are letting us transfer the flights at at time we won't even next year. Hotel are beigg a pain but hopefully we can try and get something bsck if not then we will take the loss xx

August is a long away away, and unless there is specific government advice to avoid all but essential travel to the place you're going to you should be fine.
