Anyone else finding themselves in a situation where they’re having to pay off their holiday for the summer, knowing full well they won’t be going? I’m going to be jobless next month due to the current situation and we have £800 + still to pay for a July hol - can’t cancel as they’ll charge us £600 in cancellation fees.  Just going to have to wait for the FCO but feel frustrated that we’ll be paying out money to have to go through the hassel of claiming back! Sorry for the rant!

Our final payment for a holiday in this half term was due on 22nd of April. We paid and 2 days later we got confirmation that the flight was cancelled. Followed the link that we wanted a refund. On Saturday the hotel and transfer money was back in my account. Ryanair says it will be 3/6 months before we get flight money back. Ours was a package with Sunshine holidays.

They’re doing it on a month by month rota. We feel so far that things are going ok but we’ve got another 3 booked so let’s see.

We paid nearly £4000 for ours but then was able to move ours to 6 weeks later for free, also £700 cheaper! Is that an option?

@basipetal853 didn’t even know this was possible! Plus it’s still a risk that you might not be able to go. so not sure what to do really x

@loud35 in that case if they cancel you’ll get all your money back x

We were in the same situarion. Paid a big deposit, but owed final payment which we didn't want to pay as was going to a wedding in the states which is now cancelled. We took a voucher valid for the next 18 months. We thought if Trump opens up the USA soon and the flights were not cancelled we would lose all our money. We know our travel agent, the flight centre, didn't have to refund the deposit in any form so i feel to quite lucky after hearing how some customers have been treated.

Its annoying but thats the way it is. Hopefully you will get it back as a lump sum. If you booked with an Abta bonded company hopefully.

Yes i was due to get married in Greece in June, it has now been cancelled but its a group booking so there is just over £5000 left to pay, ringing TUI but can't get through what so ever and they say that the full balance needs to be paid to get a full refund, yet i can't get through to pay. I am hoping they contact me soon.

I booked with BA and they gave us the option of a refund or voucher for free. We were supposed to go in July. Perhaps speak to agent they may be willing to adjust the rules of move final payment date
by (410 points)
@gaussmeter no they won’t budge until the FCO update their advice. That’s great that BA gave you that option! Just going to have to pay it and wait it out

Yep paid £2500 for our July holiday for my 50th. Waiting for hol to be cancelled by TUI so I can decide if I want a refund or if we book for next year with the extra 20% off.

We have £350 left to pay for our holiday on 14/09. It leaves a bitter tastes stretching yourself for something we probably won't go on BUT i am holding out that if it is cancelled we will take the refund credit plus the 20% and move it to next year (TUI). My other option is to cancel and receive a refund minus our deposit.

If you can't go, due to restrictions, you should get a full refund, we have paid to fly in September, but will have to wait n see what like things are come then, we still have to sort out with Booking. com for a refund for this month, they took full payment in @aleenaleetha & web page said no payment would be taken until 1st March, not sure if I would use them again.
