Has anyone had the issue where they buy lean beef either 93% lean or higher, but there’s still a lot of grease when you brown it? It worries me that they maybe packaged it wrong or something, and it’ll screw up my points.

I always drain my ground meat after browning. But I just thought that the amount of grease kinda indicates the fat content. So if I’m buying lean beef, it just seems like it shouldn’t have that much grease.

@nonego sometimes what appears to be fat is just the juices , esp if it’s been ore friozen . unless you intend to eat the whole pan yourself it wouldn’t take have a negative effect

When you're done cooking it wash it off with hot water. Gets rid of the grease.

You can also rinse it in hot water. I’ve done it many times & it doesn’t hurt flavor

I always put it in a colander after browning it and run hot water on it for a few seconds. Gets rid of most of the grease
