Has anyone found eating gluten free has reduced their carbohydrate cravings? I understand the biological mechanisms of what is going on when you eat carbohydrates, but no matter how what I pair my grain or wheat based carbohydrates with or how much fiber is in them, they give me such bad cravings to have more of them even after I know I've had a good serving or even two. I've found that eating more fiber rich whole plant based carbohydrates (quinoa, farro, etc) paired with fiber rich veggies has helped, but since the occasional slice of bread or wrap or what have you is realistically going to be a part of life, I was wondering if anyone has found eating these products gluten free has an effect on how much you crave more of them?

I do GF 99% of the time. I LOVE Carbs and do best on a whole food diet. I don't do well without carbs. I try eat mostly highly nutritional ones - oats, brown rice pasta, beans, etc. I limit how much bread/bagels I eat. Keep popcorn, rice cakes and good quality crackers around. If I eat high quality carbs and limit refined foods, I don't have cravings as much. I look for a better option. For example, eating some dairy free dark chocolate, instead of mms. Making banana/oat/dark chocolate chip cookies (1pt each) instead of eating store brought gf cookies.

½ Cup rolled oats (2pts) 1 Cup quick oats (4pts) 2 bananas (2pts) 1/3 cup vegan dark chocolate chips or chopped up chocolate (3pts) I use 1 MoserRoth 25gram chocolate bar from Aldi's come in a 5 pak. The dark orange almond and dark sea salt ones are 3pts on old flex pts plan. 2 dropperfuls vanilla stevia (optional) (0pts) 2TB plain or chocolate PB powder (optional) (would add 1 pt to entire batch) Mash bananas, mix in oats until well blended, fold in chocolate drop about 2TB of mix on sprayed cookie sheet, shape into cookies and Bake 350 for 10 minutes. If you make at least 11 cookies, they are 1pt each on old flex points plan. Probably even less on new plans.

I have been low carb since the end of July and it’s been a complete game changer for me. The less carbs I consume, the less carbs I want! I don’t have the sugar highs and lows anymore. I actually find I’m not as hungry as I was before going low carb. Less than 3 pounds to go until goal! I don’t specifically look for gluten free items so I don’t have any comment on that.

I don't know about gluten free, but i do know that refined products, like breads and the like make me so hungry! i am learning slowly to by pass the simple carbs and do more whole grains and beans paired up with fruit and veggies

I don't have a comment on gluten free, however, I am struggling to overcome carb/sugar addiction myself. I constantly crave sugar and carbs. I can eat great for a day or two but them completely break to these horrific cravings. If I completely go no sugar, I feel physically ill. I am now reading The Sugar Brain Fix. I'm hoping to gradually wean off carbs/sugars so I can move forward

But on the old WW flex points that I'm doing most GF bread is only 1pt a slice. Bagels are 5 pts, so I plan for them. Some days you just need a bagel :)

Gluten free doesn’t mean no carbs though. Everything is basically made gluten free now. You need to assess what you eat and if your restricting too much of certain foods. When you restrict you crave it more. I’m GF for allergy reasons and i still eat GF cookies and stuff while losing weight. You may need to also step back and look at your relationship with food if its such an issue.
