I don't think going with out food is part of WW plan !
by (4k points)
@madly I agree and I lost my weight 10 years ago and kept it off.
by (5k points)
@madly you are not going without food. You simply eat for X hours a day. For me it's 8. Not sure that has anything to do with ww
by (500 points)
@weissman Absolutely! The WW plan says nothing about what time to eat.
by (1.4k points)
@madly no one goes without food. Better to call it time restricted eating for people who don’t understand the dozens of health benefits associated with the lifestyle.
by (390 points)
@toadstool what are the health benefits of IF?
by (1.4k points)
@hobbema look on YouTube for Dr. fung and Gin Stephens. They explain it better than I can. But I’ll share what’s happened to me since starting. My vision improved drastically (I have pathological near sightedness), I am off of omeprazole completely, my blood pressure is waaay down, I sleep through the night, my glucose levels are down 20 points, I have more energy, my eyes are no longer bloodshot, I used to wake up with anxiety. gone, my joints don’t ache, I had sprained my ankle on Xmas day and the swelling wouldn’t go down. After one week on IF, swelling is gone and so is the pain. I don’t weigh myself but my clothes are loose. The best thing is I’m not a slave to that dern scale btw.

@toadstool thanks for the update !

@weissman that’s how I started. Appetite correction has kicked in so I am going longer.

Yes, 7 p. m. to 7 a. m., it's the only way I was able to break through a plateau.

I’ve done some extensive reading on it. sounds like lots of upsides.

I’ve started fasting with WW, start eating around 10:30am/11am and stop eating 6:30pm/7pm ish. So around two meals a day with some small snacks in between. Still sticking to my 30 points:) good luck (I’m convinced it helps with my slow metabolism as I’m exercising on an empty stomach in the morning)

I do ‍♀️ 14:10 method. I lost 139 lbs , 120 of it was gone as of my 1 year weigh in
by (960 points)
@eran624 different intermittent fasting methods
by (2.1k points)
@accident Those are different fasting times. 14 hour fasting window with a 10 hour eating window. 15 hour fasting window with a 9 hour eating window etc
by (5.1k points)
@eran624 thanks. So I am doing green and they give me up to 30 points. Two meals, instead of three meals and a snack? Breakfast at 10 No lunch Dinner at 8 No snacks Drink a gallon of water daily Fast between 10-8? Sleep time.?
by (960 points)
@accident what you want to do is eat all the points that you're allowed for the day in your eating time frame, and then when your fasting you just drink a lot of water and I would recommend drinking a lot of water throughout the day anyway as well
by (2.1k points)
@accident You can eat whatever time you want during your "eating" window. Your fasting window would start as soon as you finished your last meal. So if you ate at 8pm then if you wanted to fast for 16 hours, you wouldn't eat again until 12. You can start lower at 12/12 or 14/8. Whatever works for you. You would be sleeping for a good part of your fast.

by (500 points)
@madly Grotsky Camp me too! Down 65 pounds!
by (650 points)
Do you do that daily or every few days? Ongoing or a weeks at a time?
by (1.6k points)
@top that’s awesome !

Yes 16/8 seems to work the best. Most days I do 15/9. Helps me from going over points in my dailies.

I’m doing IF right now. I’ve done weight watchers so many times. I can’t do the yo-yo thing anymore. It’s just not healthy. So I’m IF’ing to change my lifestyle forever. It’s working in amazing ways and I love it. That being said, I’m considering incorporating weight watchers into intermittent fasting if I don’t lose the weight I want on IF only. I know WW works. But intermittent fasting is just so much simpler and as I mentioned there are just so many incredible health benefits.
by (5k points)
@toadstool I do it along with cc on My Fitness pal, counting calories and macros. Doing well.

If I fast can I still have my coffee with cream in the morning or is it breaking the fast
by (1k points)
@cushat technically it is considered a dirty fast. Only black coffee for a clean fast. Or wait until your eating window
by (5k points)
@cushat they say no. I need my coffee, use ff sf cremora. IF STILL works
by (450 points)
@cushat I believe if you cross over 100 calories then you’ve broken the fast. Might wanna google it as I’m not 100% sure if my memory serves me right.
by (1.3k points)
@cushat no. You cannot have creamer. Your coffee has to be black.
by (2.2k points)
@cushat black coffee, I have switched to cold brew and enjoy it now

What is it and how do you do it
by (770 points)
@melchizedek It's just restricting the times that you eat. I'm doing 8:16 I eat only between 10 a. m. And 6 p. m. The rest of the time no food. And while you're not eating you can only have coffee tea and water.
by (870 points)
@melchizedek question , I start work at 2:30 am and go to bed by 6 pm. What do you think I should do. Thanks so much

I am a current/active member of WW. Started IF end of July, broke an 11-month plateau. Am now in maintenance on the way to Lifetime. IF is a game changer for me. Read THe Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. He explains the science behind IF. IT WORKS with WW!
by (5k points)
MarcyFinn do you do 16/8?
by (3.7k points)
@weissman I do 18:6

I have been doing IF for a little over a week and have seen no change in the scale. How long did it take for people who have done it to see results on the scale?!
by (510 points)
@therapeutics637 how are you doing yours?
by (690 points)
@greylag7713 eating from 10am-6pm. I went down 2lbs after 3 days then back up those 2lbs and have not budged. Started feb. 1st. Drinking lots of water during fasting times and workout 4 times a week.
by (2.1k points)
@therapeutics637 It could actually take a while to lose weight. the healing starts first. inflammation etc. Keep it up! Definitely read Delay, Don't Deny by Gin Stephens. Everything is easily explained in that book. You will lose inches before lbs most likely.
by (690 points)
@eran624 thank you for the info!

I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for about 3 yrs. it does help. I’ve stayed within my goal only wavering about 5lb once in a while. It gives me the freedom of not worrying about food all day what to eat all day. It gives me permission to not eat until I’m actually hungry.

Yes, but I only fast for a few days at a time. I'm trying to keep my metabolism a bit shocked so I don't plateau. Haven't been doing it very long so can't tell you if my logic is working or not, but I am consistently losing so far.

A question to the people that do the IF, because I am not sure that is the answer. Before you ever thought about fasting, did all of you drink your water you’re supposed to and do exercises like you should.
by (730 points)
@calaverite yes. I have been doing IF since September. I have always Frank’s lots of water and lots of exercise. The IF is just something I added in.

Yes . IF and WW here, usually a 16:8 pattern. And to the critics: Yes, my doctor knows (he recommended it as part of my breast cancer survivorship plan); yes, I drink all my water (and then some); yes, I exercise. I also I eat carbs (smart ones, not crap snacks) and I'm not starving. I'd recommend reading The Obesity Code, or for a less sciency-read, check out Delay Don't Deny by Gin Stephens. Life changing read.

I had a hard time fitting in my points with our busy schedule in the time. I decided to do my best staying in the time but not to stress about it. Notice the scale not move when I don’t use my points.

I find the FB pages a little too strict, and I don't believe OMAD (one meal a day) is the answer to lifestyle changes. In my opinion.

@jemina3096 Treely I only eat eight hours out of the day. But stay with in my points. You can drink water coffee or tea at any point of the day. I personally eat 11 to 7. You don’t eat 16 hours out of the dat
by (1.7k points)
@unbeaten3026 , do you do this every day?

@jemina3096 Treely I tried but two days I wasn’t done eating until 7:30.
