I see how great ppl look and I've only lost 8 lbs since starting Jan 1 2020. I don't have the $ to join a gym and I hurt my back in November been seeing my chiropractor to get better. Any suggestions on how I can lose more weight or exercise without putting extra stress on my back?

Eight pounds IS AWESOME! That’s a huge amount of weight. Can you walk? Walking is 90% of my exercise routine. I walk outside. People walk at malls. You do NOT have to belong to a gym. It REALLY helps if you track food. I suck at that but I am down 40 ponds for 4 1/2 years. Slow and steady is great! Turtle on!

You don’t need to join a gym to lose weight. Exercise is important but not necessary for weight loss. You just need to consume less calories than someone that’s exercising (burning more calories). I have 1. 9 pounds to go until goal and I don’t exercise. I’m not proud of that as I really feel I do need to do some thing as it would benefit my overall health but it’s not necessary for weight loss

Like said above, walking helps. If that hurts too much, you can try yoga or some easy exercises with cans or water bottles (YouTube is your friend)

Lift some light weights. Focus on form to protect your back. Do some squats, planks and calf raises

Walking in the pool was all I was allowed to do after my back surgery. Use pool noodle to work arms. 8 weeks later I was allowed to actually swim

I agree with doing things in a pool. That being said, if you were injured and need to guard your health, you should be asking your doctor, not us, in order to protect your healing. WW talks about expecting to lose 1-2 lb. a week and you are in that pattern. Please don't judge your own success by looking at others.

Walking is free, start slowly, invest in a good pair of running shoes. Each day see if you can add a minute or 2. Before you know it, you will be looking fwd to your walks. I started on a treadmill because we live in cold climate. Then I walked the track at our local community centre. I have lost 37 of my 60 lb goal, I'm 68 years old and have had a spinal fusion. I'm now walking 10-15k steps everyday. Some days I drive to a park, other days (in inclement weather) I mall walk. Lots of choices. The other best option is aqua fitness or swimming in general. Find your way of moving and switch it up. Your only limitation is the ones you put on yourself. I have found since loosing the weight my knees are much happier

There are a lot videos on you tube that you can follow. But honestly, it’s mostly about what you put in your mouth. I have always worked out daily- a cross for type work out- and I also run three times a week. I don’t lose weight unless I change my eating habits! Celebrate your 8 lbs and stick with not, you’ll get there!

Look up DDP yoga, it goes from bed exercises, to chair, to standing using chair to balance and so on. I use it because I have MS and it has worked for alot of injured ppl

8 lbs in six weeks is great!

8 lbs is great in 6 weeks. Please don't be so hard on yourself. Slow weight lost is best because it is more likely to stay off. I started the same time and I only lost 5 lbs so far. I have hypothyroidism so it makes loosing weight a problem if my thyroid levels are not right. I'd suggest walking. I have a goal to walk so many steps every day.

OMG! 8 lbs is awesome! That is the normal rate 1-2lbs. per week! You are doing great! Don’t get discouraged! IF is NOT a FAST weight loss plan. This is the healthy and right way to lose weight, slow and steady! Keep doing what you are doing! Don’t give up! Trust the process! You are not only losing weight you are getting healthy from the inside out! Stay Strong!

I started Jan 6 and have lost 8lbs. I exercise 5 times a week and have never gone over my points and very rarely use any of my weeklies. Sometimes it’s just how our body works. 1-2lbs per week is a healthy weight loss pace. You’re on track with that so don’t give up. Weight lost quickly will be gained back quickly.

That’s a great progress. You lost 8 pounds in 7 weeks. If you want to see long term results, focusing on building healthy habits is way more beneficial than fast weight loss. You are doing great.

@vaca40383 agreed! Also, any progress is still progress and a great step in the right direction

You are doing great. I am lucky to lose a half pound a week thats to menopause and low thyroid. Talk to your doctor and find out if you are able to do water exercises, as those will take the pressure off of your back and joints.

I lost 50 pounds without exercising while on the WW plan.

@batsman glad to hear that's possible. Im 62, just starting my 4th week and have lost 12 lbs, but unable to exercise because i have fractured foot and severe asthma. Praying I can work this program.
by (2.9k points)
@splanchnic you can! We even have a member in our group following the plan that doesn't eat vegetables or exercise and she has lost between 60 to 70 pounds.

I’ve lost just about that much since The beginning of January. 1-2 pounds per week is a sustainable weight loss. It also depends on age and hormones. I have the metabolism of a slug so I can seriously gain two pounds in a day. But walking does help. And maybe try some low stress yoga

A healthy wight loss is 1/2 to 2 lbs a week. So if you've . lost 8 lbs since Jan 1st you're doing great! Those people you see in pictures didn't make such changes overnight. Be patient and keep up the good work.

I am almost embarrassed to admit that I do no exercise at all and for no other reason than I’d rather read or watch TV. I have been on WW now for 13 mos and am down 47lbs! Definitely not saying exercise is unnecessary but you can lose without it. It would speed the process for sure. Walking is a great start and when you’ve lost 15 or 20 lbs you will be amazed how much better you feel and how much energy you’ll have. BTW, I just turned 68.

Eight pounds is a start. You're doing fine. My doctor told me to just walk ten minutes a day to start, then, gradually increase as you feel better.

Walk. 15 - 30 minutes a day. Start out on the low end and slow then build up.

I think that great loss for 7 or so weeks. You didn’t gain weight overnight so you can’t expect to lose overnight. As far as exercise, get in the pool is great low impact exercise. It might even help your back, swim, water aerobics, or just move in the water
