It’s not likely fat you’ve gain. Reflect on the week: sleep, water intake, sodium intake, alcohol intake. Commit to drinking your water, being honest in your tracking and making your next best decision. It will come back off quickly.

I use a weight tracker app and it averages your weight so when you have a big gain it still shows your average. It is probably just water retention

Water weight will come off quickly. If you don’t , you will put on at least 1 pound (personal experience). That time of the month will have an effect, salt intake, alcohol, and water. Don’t give up- track everything.

Muscle weighs more than fat
by (11.7k points)
@dissolvent6 no muscle and fat weigh the same 1lbs fat and 1 on muscle weighs 1lbs Muscle takes up less room = you look smaller She wouldn’t lose 8lbs or regain it that fast it takes months and months of exercise to gain muscle mass
by (1.3k points)
Well alrighty then
by (1.3k points)
@dissolvent6 by volume, muscle does weigh more than fat. You are correct.

Water You lost fast as water. You’ll gain fast as water 0. 5-2lbs a week will be fatloss if you take days off you’ll gain Some of us sadly retain alot of water so we get big losses and big gains in short amounts of time I’m one You usually find people like us are carb sensitive = when starting a weightloss plan you drastically cut unhealthy carb so lose lots water but once you have some time off plan you’ll regain it as fast. I stopped having days off plan 20. 5 months ago as I would regain lots water and demoralise me. If your drinking alcohol you’ll also retain water as it dehydrated us.
by (1k points)
How is one retaining water if they are dehydrated?
by (11.7k points)
Of course you retain water if your dehydrated Your body will Hold water as your not drinking enough Please educate yourself

If you weighed yourself Monday morning after a big weekend, it’s not a true weight gain! Wait until Friday

I feel your pain. the scale was not where I wanted it to be this morning. I know I slipped Saturday evening but I didn’t think it was that serious. Hoping for a better week! Keep it up and try again this week. That’s all we can do

I gained 5lbs since Fri til this am's weigh in. I drank too many diet sodas and the sodium did me in. But we both will take it off this week.

If I splurge one day, I cut way back on my points the following day to balance it. It seems to work for me.

Sometimes it is just water gain. Sometimes it is muscle weight gain. Sometimes you just plateau because your body is trying to adjust and you lose inches instead of pounds.

Not fat gain at allnearly impossible, it’s waste , too much salt, not enough water, muscle water retention, happens to me lots ! I can be up 2/3 lbsover the weekend, takes me about 2 days to get where I was or less , biggest thing Don’t Stress bout it that can do more harm

It could be any number of things Stress, hormones, super salty, etc. Keep at it you will get there. Everyday is a new fresh start. We all get into that frame of mind at one point or another. I reread the post I share with other people that are just starting out or need refocusing when I need to refocus myself. Maybe something on this will help you. The good thing is it is a new day! Today you start fresh. Today is your first day! Welcome to WW! Here are some basic tips TRACK every lick, bite, and taste. The program does not work if you don't track. You can lie to the tracker but your body knows what it ate. MEASURE breakout the measuring spoons, cups and the food scale. Don't eyeball it you will be wrong. EXERCISE find something you love. You won't do if you hate it. I personally like walking, dancing when the weather says don't walk, and cardio-drumming. I do cardio-drumming from YouTube videos. Nothing is more satisfying than hitting things with sticks. If you need to start easy try marching in front of the TV during commercials and then build yourself up to a whole show. MEAL PREP I always keep a big bin of chopped onions, a big bin of chopped bell peppers, and a big bin of chunks of cooked chicken breast. I also have staples like cucumbers, tomatoes, spinach, pasta, laughing cow triangle cheese, olive oil farro, tzatziki sauce, garlic, eggs, apples, oranges, bananas, berries, whatever is in season. This way when I am hungry I have healthy choices. Breakfast omlette throw together garlic, onions, peppers, eggs and then fold it over a cut up wedge of laughing cow cheese. For lunch a very easy tzatziki chicken. Chicken, bell pepper, onions, cucumber, tomatoes. Toss it with tzatziki sauce. You can put it on a pita, eat it without the pita, or what I like to do is RIP up half a pita and mix it in after the tzatziki is mixed in. For dinner maybe a salad with the spinach, onions, peppers, chicken. Etc. Maybe pasta or rice with anything on the list. The most important tip is KINDNESS be as nice to yourself as you are to others. When you are giving your self negative back talk, ask yourself if that is how you would speak to a friend and give yourself a break. I almost forgot. zero points does not mean zero calories. For instance, a banana is zero points but if you over banana you are gonna get yourself into trouble. EAT you need to eat within 10 below and 5 above your points level. If consistently under eat your body thinks there is a famine and holds on to every ounce of weight it can until the famine is over. Under eating and over exercising is a bad combo. If you stick to 5 below and 5 above it works better. for me at least. You are not alone in this. A lot of us join with that "last resort" mentality. But don't think that way. Take a nice before picture with a big smile because today is the day your life changed for the better. You are gonna get healthy, you are gonna be fit. You are gonna breathe better. You just need to give it some time. This is a slow process but it is a process that works. I'm excited for you taking this big step towards a healthier life. You might want to sit down and write yourself a love letter stating why you joined WW and what your long term goals are, how you will accomplish them (small term goals) and what you will be able to accomplish when you get there! I personally would like to be able to get up off the floor without having to hoist myself up on the couch like I am climbing Mount Everest. That is one of the things future me will be able to do. Last tip. don't hang out in the kitchen. Eat there, cook there, clean the dishes. But if it isn't kitchen related get out of there it is too tempting. Also do not compare your journey to anyone else's. We are all different. We all have different metabolisms. So mind your own journey and don't worry that someone else lost more that week. It won't help your progress.

@salespeople thank you for posting this. I need to cut it out and post it on my wall. It's pretty much everything anyone needs to know on their WW journey. ♥️
by (53.1k points)
@pell5938 I repost it a couple of times a week. Sometimes a couple of times a day. Some of it is mine but most of it is straight from the meetings.

It may just be water. My weight goes up and down. Yesterday I was up 5lbs. Today I’m down 3 of those 5. Don’t get discouraged or think it isn’t working. Hang in there.

Don’t get discouraged @crocked3. 1. How was your water intake this week? 2. How was your sleep this week? 3. Do you have a smart scale? 4. Are you measuring your food with measuring utensils? 5. Are you skipping anything when you’re measuring? 6. Are you eating too many zero point foods? Because they definitely add up in calories too! 7. Have you pooped? 8. Are you walking or moving after meals- you just need 10 minutes after every meal. Dance to 3 songs

It is probably just a temporary gain. When that happens to me I tried to increase my water and make sure that I’m tracking every bite I put in my mouth.

Change what you are eating- I get in the habit of eating the same foods every day and then gain or don’t lose. Eat more or eat less than you have been. I’m a lifer who joined a couple times - lol. Finally reached my goal again last year, developed lymphedema and gained 42 lbs. of fluid! I’m back at it again but my doc said not to get discouraged, since it’s lymph fluid, but so far I’ve lost 16 lbs since Feb. Just keep at it!

I say change your mindset. Think ONLY positive thoughts. If you continue to think about what is not working, it will continue to not work (and no I'm not trying to be funny, this actually works). So stop, close your eyes and think about how you are overcoming all these obstacles. "See" yourself succeeding and then only say positive things about the situation. YOU GET WHAT YOU THINK . every single time! Hope this helps.

I’m not sure what’s going on with your body. But, when I gain weight I know exactly why. I’ve cut back on my exercise, I’m not eating as healthy, and eating more than I should be. Good luck
