How do you all handle your eating while on vacation? I will be having 3 meals a day at restaurants. No, I WON'T have access to a refrigerator. Your helpful tips will be appreciated.

Enjoy your vacation, maybe they have a smart menu, or you can always get chicken or fish or turkey

Order fresh fruit / eggs for breakfast, soup / salad combos for lunch, get dressing on the side, stick to grilled, broiled meats, add extra veggies or fruit, share dessert, but most importantly ENJOY your vacation!

I never track while on vacation. I usually gain about 5 pounds. It takes me about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to get it off. So worth the freedom to not count points while vacationing. You MUST be able to get right back on track after the splurge.

Watch portion sizes. Order appetizers instead of full entrees. If you aren't really hungry, don't eat because you feel you must. Have a bowl of soup, a small salad, a fruit cup.

I keep breakfast simple, just eggs, maybe tomatoes on the side so I'm still a little full at lunch. I try to have some extra veggies/salad at both lunch and dinner to keep from going too far off track.

You could also try two meals a day. Or just eggs and coffee for breakfast. Big salad for lunch. And a nice dinner. Worked for me on last trip.

I just try to make the best choices I can. When I'm on vacation I tend to double my steps and never snack, so it all evens out.

Enjoy your vacation and live life! Veggies, fruits- and enjoy the local cuisine. This is not a diet. Enjoy!

Really tell the staff how you want your food prepared. Try to avoid sauces, or at least get them on the side so you can control the amount. Drink lots of water. Eating out, even healthy choices, means more sodium. Enjoy your vacation and just get back to normal when you return. Accept that you will probably be up some. Try to get some activity.

Since weight watchers is not a diet you’ll be ok. Enjoy vacation, think carefully about what you order, and track! And walk it off too!

I get a lot of salads. I always bring my own dressing.

If you can find low-fat dressing in packets to take, eat a lot of salads. And most restaurants have a grilled chicken option on the menu.

Eat fruit and bacon and eggs for Bf Pack tuna foil packets and wasa crackers and eat for lunch. Have a nice dinner and be mindful and monitor portions and try to eat fish and lean protein. Skip all dinner rolls .

I always try to have the lowest point but most filling breakfast (omelette, scrambled egg whites, blt on an English muffin etc) I always bring WW snack and protein bars and pair that up with fruit and an ice tea from Starbucks.

I find it easy just to eliminate too much breads and I only try to have half of a dessert only once. Stick to grilled meats fish veggies salad eggs. Fresh fruits. Sometimes I feel it’s easier on vacation. For drinks I normally bring my own zero sugar flavouring then ask for tequila or vodka with soda water. (No sugar).

My husband and I often share a meal. You might not get away with it at a nice sit down restaurant but at a bar, sandwich shop, etc you can.

Try to get as many sauces and dressings on the side. If you eat a little more you will be ok if you move around a lot more

Don’t be afraid to order “off menu”. Simply ask the kitchen for grilled proteins and veges.

Enjoy but just make some mindful decisions. Eat what you want within reason. Pick the better of choices. Eat a dessert but not two. If you must, eat the second one the next day. Fish, seafood and chicken are usually lower in points. Even make the choice before you go to just maintain or not go over 2 pounds. Good luck.

I honestly plan for a small gain (or at least a maintain), and commit to get back on track as soon as vacation is over. I also try to watch my portions and eat healthier, lower point food for breakfast and lunch, and indulge more at dinner (and with drinks). I find it easy to make good choices at breakfast and lunch, even when I’m on vacation, as there are usually eggs/omelet stations, fresh fruit, salads. But I go on vacation to enjoy the entire experience, including the food (especially if I’m at a nice resort with fine dining options), so I don’t stress it. One week won’t make a difference in the long run. It’s how we eat most of the time that matters, not the occasional holiday, vacation, special occasion restaurant meal. Etc.

My hubby and I split everything. We also accept that our weight will be up when we get home and we talk about our strategy to get back on track.
