I wouldn’t pay for it, if I’m being honest. My work covers it for me but I really don’t understand why people pay for it in the first place. Someone want to clue me in?
by (2.6k points)
@excalibur I paid for it to get a jump start. Honestly I knew what to do just didn’t have the motivation to do it. I paid for the meetings in the beginning and that kept me in check. My husband didn’t understand me paying for it either but I did what was best for me at the time. It’s lovely to reach lifetime and then it’s free
by (330 points)
The app is so worth paying for, and the classes
by (640 points)
@sulphuryl This is how I started too.
by (4.5k points)
@excalibur Simple, meetings and the support can be very beneficial to many. The reason most of us over eat is becuase we enjoy food. Weight Watchers is more than an app, through the meetings you will learn alot about choosing healthy foods, and also learn how and when you can "cheat" and still maintain a healthy weight. Many folks know they need to do something but dont know where to begin. Meetings can help. you get going. So thatsbis why many pay for it. Of course if you have self motivation iTrack Bytes is free and is essentially the same program.
by (2k points)
Thanks for the comments, everyone! Maybe I’ll attend a meeting one day, I just use the app for now.
by (13.9k points)
@excalibur because their health is more important to them than other things. It’s a proven program that works.
by (6.9k points)
@excalibur it obviously works. If you can be successful without help you wouldn’t be in need of guidance in the first place.
by (2k points)
@effloresce yes!

Simple! Just count your caloric intake period. If you don't know the calories of 1 c, 2 cups of any foods just google it. Then write your calories in a booklet for every meal or snack you eat. A woman should loose 1 lb a week or so if you limit youself to 1500 calories a day. I do it and I rarely ever reach the 1500. I eat quality foods, no sugar, no carbs and only good fats. Loosing weight easily. I weigh myself on my own scale once a week. Anyone can do it. It's the old fashion way to loose weight.

All of us could do it on our own, but the reason we are all here is because we didn’t hold ourselves accountable. It’s a simple fact some not all people need reassurance and the comradely of others to keep us going.

I got news for you guys, I thought I could do it on my own so I quit and put 70lbs back on. The program keeps you working towards your goal. After you get to your target weight it becomes free. Your paying for accountability
by (1.5k points)
@gadhelic get on u- tube and type in weight watchers. you can still have pizza and burgers that really do taste great. there are 1000’s of video’s from other WW people. Always remember one thing. You didn’t put the weight on overnight so your not gonna take it off overnight. It’s a process. When I lost my 94lbs I was taken off all my medications. I never thought I could ride a bike again when I was heavy but the more you lose the more life you get back. It’s not just about the weight loss, it’s the quality of life that returns
by (5.1k points)
@etna3 your like our own personal motivation coach. Your awesome! Just wish my co worked would stop bringing in Wendy’s and ordering from cottage inn at night. I would the night shift at a security firm.
by (5.1k points)
@etna3 thank you so much for all your help.
by (1.5k points)
@gadhelic yeah that’s a problem, it was for me too. But if your expecting it you can combat it. Just keep thinking I’ve already lost 28, bring something that is a treat that you can gave when you have this issue. mine was ice cream, WW giant fudge ice cream bars are Fantastic and low points. Stop thinking about what you can’t have and look to what you can have. You will be amazed
by (8k points)
@etna3 Yes. My old instructor said this. She tried multiple times and each time she quit, she’d come back later weighing more than when she quit. So every time I think I’m going to quit and “do it on my own” I think of her. Maybe skip a restaurant meal or cut out Starbucks. I bought a Nespresso machine with milk frother and I pay $1 per pod for coffee, but it’s way less than the cost of Starbucks (and I use Fat Free milk). Not only do I save $$ but I save time too. no drive thru windows.

Weight watchers use to be free! ♥️ Back in the day!
by (5.1k points)
My mom grandmother when she had a weight problem joined Elaine Powers. I think that was before weight watchers. When she passed she was 95 pounds
by (8.4k points)
@oracular301 I remember 30 years ago paying a monthly fee until I became lifetime. Pamphlets were free since back then not many people walked around with a phone
by (5k points)
@thyself Same with me. I don't have to pay. I am a Lifetime Member too here in N. J. and I was in . 04 of the Goal Weight then set you at but I want to loose more. Which I am doing. Down 4 lbs. on my scale almost 2 weeks now. Will go Saturday morning my Town has one. Get weighed from them to see how I did.
by (690 points)
@thyself oh yes you are right. You could join free and the monthly fee was $5 or $10. But tbh I don’t remember ever paying monthly. I did so many of those programs back then. When I look back at all my pictures, I wasn’t over weight at all!
by (8.4k points)
@ketchum7 Awesome and I believe as long as you don’t go over goal weight, you remain free. I think it’s 2-4 lbs

I don’t have the money but it’s my health so.
by (1.1k points)
@gadhelic I’ve been on it for over a month, I was responding to the initial post. I have digital and meetings. I’m saying that I find the money because it IS my health.
by (700 points)
Not everyone has the ability to live with those priorities. You do have the money, otherwise you wouldn't have "found" it.
by (1.1k points)
@gadhelic not that it’s any of your business and idk why you even responded if it wasn’t something nice to say or similar to my understanding, BUT I have 5 kids and my husband and I have our bills we pay like responsible human beings, I don’t really want to spend the money on it however it is a priority because it’s my health! Mind your business. Same with Emily, I made it a priority like my other bills. Her and I understand each other.
by (5.1k points)
I was agreeing with you
by (1.1k points)
@gadhelic that’s not how I took it, read it from my perspective. I apologize if you wrote it to mean something other than how I took it.

It's also expensive buying healthy foods. I'm spending more at the grocery store. Sorry - don't mean to be discouraging. A cheeseburger and fries are cheaper than a healthy salad at most restaurants.
by (1.5k points)
@interphone true. until the medical problems start. Then expense really becomes an issue.
by (11.4k points)
@etna3 you hit the nail on the head with that comment. thank-you. healthy food may be expensive, but chronic illnesses such as diaibitis, is a whole lot more! if a person chooses the right food. like clean food, it's not a costly as one might think
by (2.8k points)
@alleenallegation865 true but. if you dont have the money now to buy healthy there's not much you can do. It"s not always a choice for some.

MyFitness pal is a FREE app that helps you track food and provides a calorie limit to follow. I follow pages like this for food ideas and motivation. In the end, no matter what plan you follow, as long as you’re in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight.

Research online or get books from the library or thrift store. I do old WW. tracking points. 29 for me. Special occasions/weight gain I'll count points while doing 1-2 weeks South Beach phase one. Just lost 7lbs in 10 days (for vacation) and didn't cost me a thing. Just eat healthy cutting out sugar. I have a bad sweet tooth. My saving is sugar free (stevia NOT carcinogenic subs) chocolate candy. Just 1-2 pieces per day satisfies!
