I just started walking 2 to 3 miles a day. How long before I notice a change? I’m not losing anything yet

Take measurements! I saw measurements change way faster than scale drop when I started working out!
by (16.9k points)
@traceable That happened to me!
by (9.6k points)
@avie3444 I gained and lost the same 4 lbs for TEN MONTHS! It was so emotionally exhausting! I kept losing inches, though, so that kept me going!
by (16.9k points)
@traceable I'm down 22#s but I'm not in a smaller size of anything. Were my clothes too tight before? They fit very well now! HAHAHAHA
by (9.6k points)
@avie3444  I’m 75 down. I found that my clothes would fit, kept fitting, still fitting then BAM. way too big! I didn’t really start losing clothing sizes until probably about 30 lbs down, then it was like every 10lbs! You’re doing awesome! 22 lbs is a fantastic loss!

@traceable That's a good thing to keep in mind, thank you.

After 2 weeks I noticed a difference

No one can answer that question. You just have to work the program and let your measurements or the scale do the rest. You may not see any results but you will feel better. That's a win in my book.

Your body is going to change in time . as you lose fat you will gain muscle. You need to take your measurements. you probably already have loss some inches. Look for your NSV . You got this

If you do 20 min 3x a day that is a full hour.

It took me five weeks for the scale to show a difference.

Exercise never affects my weight loss . Only dieting does . It will affect your overall health .

Could be a week or it could be months from now. Everyone is different

It depends. You might notice your hips shrinking a little. Your stomach a little smaller. Jeans a tiny bit more loose. It does take time and patience though. Great job on the exercise.

Losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

Measure yourself, all over. Arms, waist, upper and lower legs, etc. Also, if you have a fitness tracker, make sure you are in a 'fat burn' zone. You may need to increase or decrease speed and intensity, depending on heart rate.

I went from walking 2 to 3 days per week coupled within dancing and aqua areobics, to walking everyday. I feel stronger. Joint pain gone. Sleep better. Inches coming off.

Look at inches; I’ve been working out a ton the past 6 weeks being home and I’ve lost a ton inches, no lbs but I’ll take it!

Don't know if you'll "see" anything, but you're doing great things for your bod.

We are all different. It may be more noticeable with a tape measure than a scale. If you are a person with diabetes you will notice it with lower blood sugar. If you have high blood pressure you will notice your blood pressure getting better. If you have trouble sleeping, you will find you sleep better and all these things will be good for you!

@pittman7759 muscle weighs more than fat. How are your clothes fitting is the best way to tell
by (110 points)
@pyrography29280 that is not true. A pound is a pound no matter muscle or fat. Don’t know how you figure it your way

You should notice the change in how your legs and other parts fit in clothes.

I walk 2-3 miles 5 days a week-one cheat meal on the weekend, I loose about 1-2 a week and have lost 10 pounds since beginning of March and even through this staying home. I have noticed more inches lost than anything. Keep at it, it will come off and show

Increase your water intake. Water and the time you eat, how often you eat, type of food you eat and how you retain water etc all matters. Eat lots of vegetables for they have lots of fiber and aid in the weight loss n check the sodium level of the food you eat and try to cut down on your sugary consumption. For example I don't eat past 7 in most days and don't drink any water past 8 or the latest 9pm. Most of all be patient with yourself. None of got to where we are with our weight loss without time and getting to know our bodies well - - which takes time. Stay encouraged. It will all work out. Continue to move and take notes of everything you eat. You got this!

I walk about 6miles a day. That is just at work. Healthcare. Makes a big difference. Trust me. Keep it up and be patient. Push yourself a little further everyday.
