Don’t set a goal like that. You can’t control it. Set a goal on something you can control. Like, I will drink so much water a day. I will get this many activity points. Set goals that encourage good behavior and focus on this. Remember, this is not a diet but a lifestyle change

@chewink2063 I was thinking the same thing
by (440 points)
@chewink2063 I’ve had to learn this the hard way. I just try to do what I’m supposed to and accept that results will come even if they’re not as fast as I’d like.

5 lbs a month is a good realistic goal.

Drinking lots of water. Like a gallon a day. It curbs cravings and helps with weight loss. Also getting active everyday, even just going for a walk for 30 min, that will help!

Drink lots of water! Try to keep your sodium intake low too.

Hello! I am not an expert. I can only say what has worked for me. I have lost 25lbs so far. 1. Count EVERYTHING 2. Drink LOTS of water 3. Utilize your zero point foods (there are a LOT) 4. measure/weigh all your food 5. Most importantly, do NOT be hard on yourself. It is a process and will take time. Remember, YOU are BEAUTIFUL. Good luck on your journey <3

Stay the course and don’t give up. Some weeks are harder than others but don’t give up. WW works.

Don a mask and walk - baby steps@ first. Record everything you put in your mouth. It's ok to lose tenths of a pound - it's the way to go, as it stays off longer. Good luck!

You guys mention salt intake. I eat everything with a lot of salt, could that be why I struggle to lose? I stay within my points, exercise some?
by (540 points)
@geelong @afterword Watson definitely
by (5.9k points)
@geelong @afterword Watson find a good salt substitute like accent and that will help. If you feel like it's a craving then have your potassium levels check by your doctor. it could be a sign that something is off in your system. Salt does maintain fluids . Drink plenty of water.
by (14.9k points)
@geelong @afterword Watson for sure, your body retains water when there’s a lot of salt in your system.

@geelong @afterword Watson yes

What kind of salt are you using? If you're using table salt try switching to himalayan pink salt or a good sea salt.
by (1.9k points)
I'll have to make that switch
by (910 points)
There is a huge difference between table salt a salts that are actually a mineral such as Himalayan pink salt and sea salt.

Count everything, make your normal recipes but with healthier choices, use your weeklies if you’re feeling like you just need that cookie or pie of cake, or that extra piece of pizza. Just stick with it even if you get discouraged or have a bad day! This is something you’ll have to do for the rest of your life so make it work for you! Good luck! It definitely works!

I would set a smaller goal of about 5 lbs - WW avg loss is 1/2 -2# per week. If you lose more than the 5 lbs, then it’s a win, but what if you don’t? Many don’t. Also, look at the overall picture more than the weekly amount. Ex: you lose 10 lbs the 1st month (2. 5/wk avg) and only 5 the next (1. 25/wk avg). You’ll likely get frustrated. However, if you look at it over the course of 2 months (8 wks) - just under 2 lbs per week

Try making sure your are getting plenty of protein. Drink plenty of water. Switch up your daily routine. That is some of things I do when I hit a plateau

Try the purple plan. It reinforces eating non provessed food. 6 points of lean protein is better than 6 points of snickers.

I track everything! Even zero point foods. That way if my week seems off I can go back and see what combination of foods may have been the culprit, but so far so good!
by (6.8k points)
@burtie38 I do that too. Good idea!

Try to eat only natural things that we have been given here on Earth. I know a lot of the Weight Watchers food and other processed foods might be low on points, but I think you have the best luck if you stick with what is natural. When I lose the best is when I eat lots of vegetables. Try to stay away from the processed foods as much as possible, even if I'm staying within my points, being clean and eating what is God-given helps me lose the most.

Great goal however keeping your expectations reasonable and realistic is what works. Think of WW as a lifestyle change because that's exactly what it is and weight loss is a slow process with loses, gains and plateaus.

Don’t pressure yourself with how much to lose every month. Just follow the program and you will be fine. Don’t deprive yourself of anything and stay within your point range. Drink water and exercise. Even if it’s a little exercise. Track your food everyday! Wishing you good luck!

I only eat fruit in early am. Then plan my points for lunch and supper. I sometimes have a breakfast meal around lunch. And boy I then have lots of points for rest of day.

Track everything is what I do. If I put a cracker in my mouth I count it. If I have a slip up one day, I wipe the day out of my mind and start right back the next day. Good luck, you got this!

Try and make sure you don’t set yourself up to fail. I follow the plan as closely as possible and never knew exactly how much I would lose. I’ve been lifetime for 4 years and in quarantine I’ve been losing every week. Not sure why‍♀️

While 10 pounds a month is a great goal to have. I don't think it's going to happen. it's unrealistic. and very hard on you if you dont. I'm happy to lose a pound a week. which doesn't happen either.

Ten pounds a month is a lot. Maybe scale your expectations back a bit. The program is supposed to to be 1-2 pounds a week.
+24 votes
by (6.9k points)
Be realistic. 10 lbs is a good goal, but don’t be surprised if you lose 1-2 lbs a week (WW recommends) - which is STILL losing.  Take one day at a time. One successful day becomes two and so on. Drink water. Keep moving. Even if it’s a quick walk around the block. Parking at the end of a parking lot, etc. Track everything. Good and bad. Try not to eat too late. Always eat breakfast. Even if it’s a snack so you don’t binge when you’re starving. Measure everything. Portion control is key. Be prepared. Winging it leads to snacking and higher point Items. Good luck. Believe in yourself. You. Can. Do. This.

I actually started around the same as you and lost alot my first month(15) It's continuing to do the same thing over and over again. Be consistent. If you have a bad day, keep going. if the scale doesn't move, keep going. if you have a gain, just keep going. Don't quit! Good luck and you got this!

Don't push yourself too fast. A healthful loss is 1-1/2 to 2 pounds per week. Me personally--I'm good with . 8 per week. Slow and steady but it works for me. So, don't compare yourself with others or you will go nuts. Best of luck.

Welcome to the group. 1st don't set your goals to high so not to be disappointed. Slow and steady is the best way to go. They say 1-2 lbs a week is what to aim for to lose weight safely and keep it off.

10lbs per month is probably not a realistic goal. Try to focus on the healthy lifestyle changes you’re making, not the scale. When I focus on the plan, I lose the weight. When I focus on the weight, I lose the plan. You can do this.

Learn to ignore the variability. There will be weeks you lose and weeks you don’t. Just keep tracking and stay within your points and you’ll be fine.

IF NOTHING ELSE, ONE THING I DI@pervious LEARN FROM WW IS PORTION. EVEN IF YOUR EATING THINGS YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN’T THE AMOUNT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. THE OL@pervious ME ATE OUT OF BOXES, BAGS & DI@pervious NOT PAY ATTENTION AS TO HOW MUCH I ATE AT ONE SITTING. NOW. EVERYTHING I EAT COMES OUT OF A CONTAINER OF SOME SORT INTO A BOWL OR PLATE ( NOT TOO BIG) & THATS WHAT I EAT. ALL ABOUT “PORTION”. DEFINITELY MAKES A DIFFERENCE. I DO STAY ON COURSE THOUGH WITH WHAT I EAT AS WELL. BUT IF I DO VEAR OFF A BIT. I KNOW ITS NOT BEING OVER DONE. & THAN I GET RIGHT BACK ON TRACK ♥️

A lot more will be your gift than that. And all very important. Don't put a rigit weight loss on yourself. Follow your program, do your best & ask questions.

Is 10 lbs a week realistic?
by (250 points)
@curran it says a month
by (4.1k points)
@lychnis8 yes, I meant month, and I think expecting to lose 10 lbs a month is a set up for disappointment. thanks for bringing my mistake to my attention.
by (2.4k points)
@curran 10 pounds in the first month might be okay but I think after that 1-2 pounds a week is more reasonable.

I started at 241 and have lost 50 pounds in a year. Started off only losing 5 a month, drank lots of water and started exercising 6 days a week. Ended up walking 3 1/2 miles a day. Stuck to the points (blue plan) and got off sugar. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Just be patient and remember it took you awhile to get to where you are today. Don't expect to lose it all quickly. It will take time and dedication but it is worth the effort to lose. I can wear a size 12 now! Believe in yourself.

Recommended loss is 1-2 lbs a week. Some weeks you’ll hit a brick wall. Just take it day at a time. Remember this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. Progress, not perfection is something I always remember! Check out skinnytaste. com for great recipes. Good luck !
