I'm on 250mg of synthroid. I had to start taking the real synthroid because my body was rejecting the man-made hormone. I've lost 36 lbs since 2-2-20. It's not as easy, I really have to watch what I eat and stay in my points.
by (1.9k points)
@snappy 36 lbs in 2 months ? That’s amazing Ww used to say 2 lbs a week is healthy
by (1.3k points)
@snappy that’s wonderful! I’m on levothyroxine right now, and wondering if that’s not the right choice for me.
by (1.7k points)
@mccoy that’s what I’m on. It’s generic for synthroid 100 mg. Been on it for 4 years now since chemo treatments effected my thyroid.
by (3.6k points)
Sandy. that's what I was on. I still take 50 of the levothyroxine, but they had to do 200 of the real because my body wouldn't use it. I was on it for 16+ years when that happen.
by (29.5k points)
@mccoy I am too & have come to a stand still! Confusing for sure but I stick to program b/c I am half there & feels great.
by (570 points)
@snappy when what happened? Was your TSH not coming down? So they switched your meds?
by (3.6k points)
@hydatid . it was my TSH3 (it's the one that's shows how your body is breaking it down)
by (570 points)
@snappy Thank you. Good to know! My doc only checks TSH & Free T4.
by (3.6k points)
@hydatid . I was taking my meds on a regular schedule and my levels weren't balancing out and i still had symptoms that i knew weren't right. So my doctor did the extra test to see if it was breaking down right.

If your doctor has your dosage right no problem. Maintenance is easier for us due to a side effect of most of the meds we take.
by (1.3k points)
@snappy Mullins Thunhorst yes, I just spoke with my doctor the other day, I am beginning to think either dosage or the med I’m on just isn’t a fit. He upped my dosage for now on his own until I can go get bloodwork. Praying it works
by (3.4k points)
@mccoy Getting the right dosage is key. I lost and have maintained since 1999. For me menopause is much harder then my thyroid issue.

Thyroid out since 2011. On meds for life. Been on smallest to largest dosage. Weight fluctuates. To those who are on the highest dosage, keep an eye on how your joints and you are feeling. The higher dosage, the higher chance if the meds effecting your organs. If your joints are hurting talk to your doc to possibly take you down to the next lower dosage.

Yes. I have had hypothyroidism for many years, and in September 2019, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto autoimmune disease. My medication was increased. I’ve lost 3 lbs since I started WW in late Feb. It is slow, but for reference, I’m post menopausal, and don’t have a lot to lose ( I’m 12 lbs to goal). It is frustrating reading how some ladies lose 3 lbs in a week. But, I remind myself I’m on my own train, on a different track, I’ve lost 3 lbs I could have easily gained instead, & I’ve medical issues I’m fighting against. I know I will reach goal. It’s just going to take patience. A lot of patience. I have noticed what I don’t lose in pounds, I’ve lost in inches.

I am, finally, but 0. 4 to 0. 8 lb a week. It took being regulated on meds (not just ON meds) for over a year. This is my 6th time on weight watchers and it's finally coming off. I have to be extremely dedicated with no cheat days and very few sweets. In the past I gave up but I'm not going to this time.

Yes it is a slower rate but it happens. I take Nature-Throd 130mg so a really high dose. It took a lot of trial and error for my doctor to get to that script and dosage but now I'm at almost 40 lbs lost

Remember we’re not all supposed to be a size 8 or 10 or 12. Look at your siblings. I had 8 siblings and they ranged from 5 foot with black curly hair to one sister who was 5’10 with blonde straight hair. I’m in the middle at 5’4 with straight blonde/gray hair. Once when I worked at the airline I got down to a size 8 but it was hard to stay there. I’ve been a 14/16 for most of my life. Be realistic

The meds gets your thyroid issues to near normal. You should only be having trouble if your thyroid medicine isn't working correctly. I lost weight with hypothyroidism. If you stick to the green plan, which is more accountable you will lose weight. I am now on the blue but you now will have to be accountable for the amount of 0 point foods you eat. You need to figure out what you can and cannot eat to lose weight.
