Apparently, at 51yo I have likely developed a tree nut allergy. Hives insane, and that seems to be the most common trigger. On prednisone temporarily and appointment with allergist next week. Never in my life have I had to look at ingredients, but I do now. In fact, learned yesterday that all WW chocolate snack bars have tree nuts. So do Built Bars. And almost every low point snack in my pantry. Who knew?  My question is for those who also have this allergy. can you recommend some store-bought low point (Green) snacks, both savory and sweet that do not include tree nuts?

I feel your pain. I had a sudden nut and tree nut allergy 12 yrs ago. It definitely makes you steer towards fruit and cheese sticks etc. some of the 100 calorie snacks are nut free. I just have to look. I'm a yogurt fruit, turkey sticks person.

I totally understand what you are going through. I am allergic to all poultry. I have to watch out for pilaf, any kind of gravy, crab cakes (yes, some chefs put chicken in crab cakes), as well as any creme soups just to mention a few. Sorry you have developed an allergy to tree nuts, just be careful, some people can get a reaction to touching a door knob that someone else who recently touched a tree nut product touched.

Not all built bars, just checked ingredients on vanilla chocolate creme and none listed and also says that built bars are made in a peanut and tree nut free facility and I would know if it wasn’t true. Been allergic to tree nuts since I was a kid

I suddenly developed a land and tree nut allergy the year I turned 30. I stay away from processed anything just to be sure because I find nut oils and extracts far more dangerous than the actual nut because they are so concentrated and they seem to be in a lot of foods. It’s hard to keep watching lists of ingredients so I just stay away from processed stuff period.

Happened to me but with apples. At the same age. My throat closes and tongue swells up like a raft. Yeah. Good times. Ugh. Apple cider vinegar in a lot of things. It stinks. Sorry for you too! Booo to us.

@snip0 Right? Started with hives. could not figure out why. Monday night I had a salad and chocolate almond built bar. 15 minutes later, my lip and jaw swelled. Went to urgent care because I was afraid it would spread to my throat. Got steroids. Ok on Tuesday morning. hives clearing up. Tuesday had two WW chocolate bars. hives back with a vengeance and woke up yesterday with a swollen eye. Ugh!

@cerebrovascular597 ugh. Be careful! I had an apple and turned blue an hour later. Wtf!? ‍♀️

@snip0 Yikes! I didn’t eat anything with nuts or chocolate yesterday. Hives started clearing up again. Had a chocolate snack pudding last night, no nuts in it. Hives back this morning. I will DIE if it’s actually the chocolate that I’ve become allergic to and not the nuts in the chocolate. I will simply lose the will to live.

I have a daughter who has a tree nut allergy. she is not on WW but I am, and I try not to bring anything in the house that she would be allergic to. So my go to snacks are wheat thin’s, goldfish crackers, veggie straws, and Quaker caramel rice crisps. I am on blue, so I don’t know how this would translate to green. I just make sure to read labels, and remember to check things that I have bought often in the past, because often manufacturers change their processes. Feel free to PM me if I can help- I would be happy to take pictures of stuff in my pantry!

I’m sorry to hear that. My kids are milk egg peanut and gluten free so I feel your pain. For snacks we do a lot of pretzels or fruit with chocolate hummus, bbq pop chips or rice cake flavored ones, popcorn, 1/2 nature valley protein bar is 3pts on blue and the same size as a ww ones. You’ll have a lot of options once you get in a new groove. you may just need to do measure out baggies
