What do you all do as far as tracking points when you marinate your chicken in something but end of discarding most of the marinade liquid? Pre WW I was OBSESSED with marinating chicken tenders in Olive Garden Italian dressing and then having my husband grill them (legit the best chicken I’ve ever eaten) but the dressing is pretty high in points. I probably discarded 90% of the marinade when we grilled them. How do y’all handle this kind of thing? Considering weighing out how much I use and then weighing out how much I would toss afterwards and only counting the difference. Thoughts?

I do not count any marinades. I count sauces after cooking though.

This is my philosophy too.

Same here. I don’t feel enough is on the meat to count.

They make a light version of the olive garden dressing. Use that instead

I would just estimate how much was on what I ate and count it that way

I usually calculate 1 T for what the meat absorbs

I've never counted marinades, but Ive cut back on the amount of oil I use in mine and upped the vinegar. I cant eat unmarinated chicken. Once you've tasted perfectly marinated chicken, theres no going back.

@affixation, try marinading your chicken in baking soda and water. Just stir the water until baking soda dissolves. I use about 32 - 48 oz's of water with about 1/8 - 1/4 cup baking soda. Makes the chicken moist and tender.

Measure it , add is sparingly , and count it. If you do it in a Ziplock and take out all the air you don’t need 1/2 a cup of marinade . Try spicerubs and spray oil.

Measure what you put in and what you take out. Subtract and voila!

I would do what u suggested hun, and weigh what's left, everyone will do it differently and that's fine it's all our own journeys x

That’s exactly how you should handle it.

I've watered down marinades too- maybe 1/2 & 1/2- and added extra Italian seasoning. We never noticed a difference in taste.

Count 2 points if your getting rid of it

I wouldn’t count it at all. You aren’t going to ingest that much of it.

If nobody has yet mentioned this, you could pour the leftovers back into a measuring cup to see how much is being discarded, then do the math.

Dill pickle juice. Sounds weird, but it is good! You don't taste dill, but the chicken taste really pops! You can cook the chicken right in the juice, or broil it, bake, whatever. 0 points. I get my pickle juice from my church when they have their various group meals. (I don't care for dills. )
