Hello all, I currently use Arlo Pros and Sam's Club has a set of 3 Pro 2 cameras with base station on sale for $300. 00. Two questions-is it worth it to upgrade to the Pro 2's for better resolution, and can I continue using the original base station or should I use the new one? Thank you!

So Pro to Pro 2 is an upgrade in your opinion?

@tintinnabulum4403 Yes for me and my needs. But the good thing about living in the states the ease of a return.

Thanks for your input. I think for now I'll go with the Pro 2's. I'm not ready to start paying a subscription.

@tintinnabulum4403 oh and the second part, if your not getting a newer smart base or one with the siren built in no point in changing your base, that’s just my opinion as well lol.

@portie7511 what exactly is the siren for? I can trigger it on my app but what’s it for

Pro 2 cameras alone are worth that. The base is a bonus. I run 2 separate bases to avoid the subscription fee. Had to create a 2nd Arlo account.

@foulmouthed do you get notifications from both or only the one that you’re logged into at the time?

@carburet I have it set up to send an email from 1 base and notification on the other.

I also have a motion sensor on the door that’s tied into my SmartThings hub that sends me a notification as well.

The Pro2 cameras are an upgrade as they provide 1080p video vs 720p on the Pros. I also did not notice much if any drop in battery life. I only use Arlo for outdoors around the perimeter. If you use them powered that won't matter.

A couple of other upgrades I forgot to mention. The Arlo Pro 2 has a wider field of view, It also has a 3 second look back buffer, so if you get motion it includes the 3 seconds prior to the motion that are in its buffer.

@sheathbill Think the 3 second look back only works if they’re connected to power.

That is true. I wasn't sure how they were connecting it, but should have mentioned it. I only use mine outside wireless.

And Arlo Pro cameras will work with the Arlo Por2 base.
