I got an email about getting Arlo Smart Premier subscription for $5 a month. Is the service worth it?

It is if you catch something useful

Right now I’m so disappointed with Arlo I don’t know what to say, maybe if it improved the video quality and helped connectivity it might be worth it but I would want to see the results first.

I just record everything locally, no need for a service for me. I do want to setup zones, but the cameras seeming require they be connected to power, which defeats the point of wireless to me. Thought about solar, but those things are expensive lol

Jeremy, what model of Arlo are you running and do you have any issues accessing your videos? What is your router and USB storage device? Do you mind not being able to access the videos unless your on the same network as the base?

@rivarivage72520 I have an Arlo Pro 2. I have no issues accessing my videos, my router is a wireless mesh network from google, with a 2TB ssd in a enclosure which clones to my NAS drives. And I can access them while on separate networks

@spriggs I have a Netgear modem/router and at this point just trying to access the videos on a WD usb drive via the app that currently, shows on Arlo to have used 85. 8 MB and had 298Mb free, local storage status shows good. In doing a network speed test it shows 210 mbps download and 21. 7 on the iPhone that’s running the app. While all videos are captured, uploading to view them is hit and miss, and yes I can only do this while connected to the local network. The issue appears to be uploading the file via the app onto my iPhone. Also is anyone aware of multiple phones, or pads having access to arlo via the app causing issues?

We were having issues with connectivity. We subscribed and the service magically got better. We love the notifications as it tells us what was detected. Sound, motion, animal, person, package and outlines the person or animal even in night vision. Our service and app works better. We will be keeping it. Still have a limit of 5 cameras tho which was disappointing.

Don’t have paid service. But to be fair, no connectivity issues for years with my Arlo Pro. Knock knock! App response did slow down considerably when they changed over the app.

For $5/month for 5 cameras I’d buy it. They want to charge me $10/month.
