I have two cameras I was able to use the mounting brackets for one but for another I have to put it on a steel building and I do not want to drill holes into the steel. I have used the magnetic mount and some double sided tape but I’m fearful that it will give out on me and the camera will fall and break. Living in southern Michigan What are your thoughts?

Good double-sided tape should be fairly reliable. I have a camera on the same type of building and I mounted it using one fo the screws that hold the siding on, it's been there for 2 years with no issues.

@damalus I wouldn’t trust double sided tape. It’s only a matter of time before it drops yr camera.

The camera itself is magnetic not the mount.

Use calking around the edges to seal it. It’s kind like rubber glue. In a bad storm your current set up will fail. Calking comes in all colors problem solved.

@damalus get silicone caulk. It’ll peel off super easy.

Drill into the upper portion of the light or use the existing sheet metal screws

Use a silicon skin. If it does happen to fall you get some added protection. Consider a tether to one of the screws or the light housing

Cut a small steel board, screw the mount on it. Get a powerful neodymium magnet. Then you can put your magnetic mount anywhere on the steel siding. Get an ArloCatcher and an extension pole, then recharging your Arlo is as easy as recharging your phone.

Cameras are not water proof either. I think just water resistant.

That looks higher than 7 feet

@damalus if mounted too high, you’ll lose the camera’s ability to detect motion.

@damalus I have cameras higher than 7 feet that detect motion.
