I’m looking to offload lots of clothing. I’ve tried poshmark and spent a lot more time taking pictures of items than getting any offers. Anyone have a better recommendation?

I have tried Poshmark too with no luck. I heard mecari is good but haven’t tried it.

@bardo in my opinion adding items to mercari is much easier. Just seems to be a more user friendly process

I know Ebay is kinda old school compared to poshmark or mercari but I seem to have good luck.

I don't have the time to devote to selling stuff so I've been taking my maternity & baby's clothes to Kid to Kid to consign. I figure I'd be donating anyway, might as well get a little something for it. I'm using the store credit to get clothes in the next size up for my son

Selling on Poshmark and Mercari are like a second job in themselves. I find you have to constantly share your items and offer discounts to people and things like that to get a sale.

Check out ThredUP. It’s an online consignment store. You can request a clean out bag to send in clothes. They will either consign the clothes for you or pay you outright upfront. You get to chose.

@gelhar just a warning though, I sent two huge boxes of clothes, bags, and shoes (some were new with tags, everything was in great condition) and I was offered 90 cents for all of it.

@gelhar thank you! I’ve used thred up for donation and as a consignment and they pay out really low. I find you’re better off donating because it’s at least going to a good cause and is tax deductible.

I’ve got a few things listed on Mercari and zero sales so far so I’m not a huge fan but I think it depends on what you have. My sister sells a ton of her kids clothes there and has great success.

I sent a bag to thredUP and they def don’t offer much. I sent NWT stuff and I got $5. 81. The total amount they sold it for almost $70. I have not sold any clothes on poshmark and have had stuff posted since August 2019.

I'll do FB Marketplace/local pages, Poshmark and Mercari. We also do a yearly garage sale and I'm always amazed at what goes then. Sometimes I think the beginning of the year can be slow because everyone is trying to get on top of money after the holidays. I also think with the postage increases it's been hard lately on Poshmark and Mercari; spending $5-8 as either a seller or a buyer on postage alone is hard.

Do you have fb swaps in your area?

I’ve done well on poshmark too. Sold clothes, shoes and some household stuff for about $250 over 3 months or so. The photos are definitely time consuming, but the rest is just paying attention to your stuff.

Take better pictures in super bright natural daylight and make sure your price is fair

I’m trying thredUP. you can get a bag and fill it and send it back and they’ll give you a % of what it’s bought for. Takes like a month or so I guess.

Platos closet. Don't expect to make a fortune but it was easy to get rid of a few items without taking pictures

Offer up and Facebook Market works best for me. Poshmark has been a waste of time for me.

Sell as a “lot” on your local fb marketplace or try a consignment store. I agree on the Poshmark thing, haven’t tried Mercari

Poshmark takes work. You need to follow and share your closet frequently. I make on average $100-200 a month when I am active.

I hate on the online resell stores. Poshmark has been the best so far, but even then it sucks. I have a ton of lululemon stuff posted for like $15 then you get someone offering $5‍♀️ None of it has been worth it. OfferUp has been the biggest waste of time
