Hello! Do you recommend making a budget when on 1 income even though a 2nd income will be coming within a couple weeks?Hello! Do you recommend making a budget when on 1 income even though a 2nd income will be coming within a couple weeks? My husband feels like it’s pointless until we know exactly what my income will be as well. Like he won’t even discuss savings goals because he says we can’t have a goal without knowing the amount I’ll be making. I just want to get prepared.

I’d probably start with the necessities so you have a plan. Anything extra, you can figure out how to divide up. You don’t necessarily need to set up savings goals right away.

if that’s the case, i see nothing wrong with at least making plan of what you would like to save and what for. Budgeting should be based on worst case scenario anyway so not know the amount and under budgeting can only help in the long run.

Do you have an estimate of what you'll be making? Perhaps just budget his side of things then

My husband would give me the exact same response. I’d do a mock budget based on the absolute minimum you will be making and show him.

For the first month I would budget just his income, but say X, Y, Z depending on your pay. You don't necessarily needs amounts, just what is next.

I was in sort of the same situation. I have money from an inheritance that I start getting this month. And my husbands job is ending in the next two to four months. How the heck do I plan when I don’t know? I start with what I do know. Plan with what I have. When it changes, adjust the plan. My budget is my map. If I don’t have it, I don’t get anywhere I want to go. You can do this

Ok everyone I am doing my feb budget and noticing that the second and third week of the month I will be stort of a bill and groceries for the week.but the first and and 4th week I have extra money and the bills can't be moved sooo I was thinking for the paying the 2 small bills that don't fit in second paycheck with paycheck 1 and just pay early (if money is left hubby WILL spend it) and for third week using my credit card to cover groceries and last bill then paying it off on the fourth week?
