We are considering a SAHD situation for a little while. After insurance, retirement, and taxes, my monthly take-home pay is about $3, 600. While we have some additional income from a hobby, we don’t want to include that in our budget. Does anyone have a similar income that is willing to share some information about your budget and what your spending allowances are?

Can I ask why you don’t want to include income in your budget? We take home between 3800 and 5k depending on the month. Not sure if I can help.

I still don't have a budget set up but that is around my husband's take home. He makes more so I stay home during the day and work evenings starting around 5 pm and weekends for extra income.

Our take home pay for my husband is around $3500 with no overtime (what we budget on) I stay home since our 3rd was born. I’m happy to answer any questions you have!

We take home $3800/month on my husbands income. Our budget categories are limited right now due to us paying off our last student loan like our pants are on fire. Our bi-weekly amounts are: Groceries: $250 General: $200 (this is gas, eating out, etc. ) His spending: $50 My spending: $50 Our daughters spending: $50 (the two of them share this amount and I use it for all of their clothes, toys, extra costs beyond the essentials) Cabin Expenses: $75 (this is a sinking fund to cover propane and property tax at our cabin) Everything else we just budget in advance. Next month when the student loan is gone we will reassess out categories and amounts but this has been working fine for us.
