Currently husband has the only income. I am a full time student graduating April 2021. We have 4 children 16, 15, 13, 11. I am looking for stay home part time jobs or my friend wants me to get involved with pampered chef. I’m not great at selling anything but I do love pampered chef. Anyone else familiar with this? I don’t need to make a ton of money but I would like to pay for the braces my boys wear and the car payment equaling 700 a month.
Currently husband has the only income.

@gerstein2172 how does instacart and shipt work?
by (1.4k points)
@authentic Shipt is a nicer company. But much slower in my area Instacart is mainly on demand nation wide. You are offered orders you pick which one you want. Ho to store scan with phone items and checkout. You shop for them as you would yourself. Then bag and deliver. It is hard to go wrong. It is very app driven and if you are comfortable with your phone it us great. I hustle hard and make about 20 an hour. Zones next to me do not pay as well. Weekends are busiest and the 5:00 hour is as well. You have a separate payment card no money flows through your account. You will get a 1099. all taxes are on you. I shop and deliver one order per hour on average Let me know if you have more questions

by (1.4k points)

On upwork you can find side jobs that fit your skillset (like being a virtual assistant, writing and editorial, data analyst, IT, project management, etc). You set you own price or agree to a price with someone else.

I would say, just don't join any MLM. You will not make substantial money right away, if at all. What are your available hours? My mom subs for a school district. They call her during her availability (which she can change daily) and if she wants to or can, accepts the job. If not, she just doesn't accept the job. She makes like $15/hour currently. But I believe starting is $12. Around here anyway. It's very flexible.

I am with an mlm. Yes you won't make money right away but if you work at it you can absolutely make money. I am mom of 2 with one on the way. I have been with my company for 6 months and now make enough to pay almost all my rent by just my side hustle and never miss a beat with my kids. You just need to find a company your passionate about.

It could honestly just lose you money. If you’re in school, and can’t put all your time into it, it’s likely that you won’t make much profit. And I just think mlm’s are very predatory.

I did it and like you, I was not a good seller. Bought more than I sold because I loved it so much. Great products but MLMs are not going to be a great option if you aren’t a good seller.

In regards to MLM i have nothing against them i actually work with one however make sure there are no minimum monthly requirements, no minumum of stock you must have on hand etc. Those are the things that can trip you up if it doesn't work for you etc. MLMs also aren't for everyone if you don't feeel like you are a good seller it most likely won't work

I’m in direct sales and YES it can make you great money. I wasn’t a seller when I started my business and started to just get a discount.  But I can tell you this. What you put into a direct sales business you will get out of it. So if you are willing to learn, be coachable and just go for it, you will Be just fine. YES you can and will be successful. I make an executive Income in my business- but I also treat it like a business and not a hobby. It pays all of my Bills. And hey I was a Tom boy from NY who never wore makeup or washed her face before starting my business. But I’ve been doing just fine! Good luck!

There are companies similar to mlm where you don’t have to sell and pre purchase products to sell on . my husband and I work with one and it’s the best decision we ever made ☺️

If you have your bachelor's definitely look into subbing for your local school district, you will make about $100/day

Are you good at talking to people and getting them to like you? Do you have 100s of friends? Or do you have experience with online and social media marketing? If so, this could work for you. If not, choose something else. Delivering with ubereats/Shipt/Instacart is easy enough.

I will tell you for Pampered Chef I only do Virtual parties. So all my parties are in Facebook groups that way I can still run them at home or while I am out running around. I am homeschooling my youngest and she is in her senior year so we have college visits and sr activities so I needed the flexibility

When I was in grad school and had my children, I completed mystery shops & audits to earn money. I'm now at home with four kids, and do the same thing to help pay for kids activities.

@misfit Goldberg Allen Hi, could you explain how to get started with doing the mystery shops & audits please

Agreed to the comment about crafting skills. I did 1 MLM years and years ago and basically didn’t make squat. I spent tons of money to keep inventory I had to put orders in at least once a month. I have my own business now where I make bows and earrings and it’s going great. It’s stressful sometimes because I do make everything I sell by hand and I have a full time job and two young children to juggle. A lot of people I know do MLM to just make money and aren’t passionate about it so sometimes I have a hard time buying from them. Especially people who have done MULTIPLE ones and claim that it’s the best product in the world but said the same thing a month ago about another product they sold.

Of course I love to shop small and support small businesses and I will buy from friends who do MLM as well. It’s not all bad

What about taking small dogs when people are on vacation or doing doggie day care for people that work

You can advertise on rover. com or we have a local town FB group that I would use if I were doing that

I wouldn't recommend mlm selling for anything. Anything but mlm Unless of course you're looking to lose money, all of your actual friends, and be annoying af. then mlm is for you

Naw go drive school bus! You can just sub, work mornings only and be done by 9:30. You’ll make a decent wage and gain a valuable skill that you can literally take anywhere and work!

I think MLM is great if you enjoy talking to people and can put relationships over profit. It can be a slow build if you’re new to it, and rushing it lends to the kind of behavior that puts people off of it. If socializing burns you out, you may enjoy something else more & find it easier to make money doing something less socially demanding. I will say, though, that even though I love pampered chef and their products (my parents sold it years ago and the in-person parties were the best! ), I’m not familiar with their comp plan, but finding a company with consumables is going to give you a residual income before you’re able to build a team (if you’re even interested in building a team). The more you LOVE the product, the easier it is to share it organically and make sales without feeling pitchy.

I have done several MLMs. and several quite successfully. However, there are many things to consider. Yes, although you can do it and stay at home, my most successful ventures required a *lot* of time (some were focused solely online and some physical product based ones required a lot of time outside the home). I now prefer to make extra income selling items on sites such as Poshmark or eBay and am looking at trying out VIPKid to teach English online to students in China. I also substitute in elementary schools right now as my son is older. Determine what hours you want to work, how much control you want to have over your hours/pay, and how much ongoing effort you want to put into your side gig. MLMs take daily effort and money to make money. I’ve loved doing them in the past, but for me the amount of time they take to grow and prosper (and having inventory on hand) is not where I want to be right now. Best of luck in your endeavors! Choose what feels right for you!

Please remember this is just my personal opinion so take it or leave it. MLMs are a scam and its a waste of money. Don't go there unless you want to lose money and annoy the crap out of your family and friends.

I’ve had some good and bad experiences with MLM. My recommendation is that you find one that has no start up costs, no monthly minimums, and a solid non-spammy marketing plan. I found one and it’s helped to pay the bills while I’m unemployed and I haven’t put out a dime of my own money. And no I haven’t lost any friends. Not all MLMs are bad. Feel free to PM me if you want to hear more about my experiences with them.
