Question for those who work for VIPKIDS. What's the average income? Is it worth it for part time work?

Absolutely worth it. I make around 2000 every month before taxes, but that's working around 25 hrs a week. It does take a while to get started and get students.

@cureton the big thing that has prevented me from interviewing is. how do you schedule your hours?
by (2k points)
@vermicular I schedule my own hours and entirely make my own schedule. I schedule two weeks in advance. The prime hours (for EST) are 5 to 8 or 9 am. And weekend nights from 8 PM through till the am. I only work 8 to 11. But some teachers work crazy hours. You can teach all nighters if you want.

I have to do the demo video, but I think early mornings will be my schedule. Do you set aside money for taxes? Is it W2 or 1099?
by (2k points)
@singlefoot 1099. I immediately take taxes out of every check and put it into an account and don't touch it till taxtime.

@cureton how do you know how much to take out? This is my fear with starting lol

@cureton 15% is standard it’s what we did when my hubby was a 1099 employee

@cromagnon49560 I take out 20 percent to be safe and will use the extra like a tax return if I saved too much.

So, I love working for VIPKid. I started working at an awkward time during Chinese New Year and the CoronaVirus outbreak (signed my contract in January). I'm not making a ton of money even though I've opened up a bunch of slots, but people hired after me are doing well, and people hired a month before me are getting a lot of bookings. I have some regulars and I'm happy, but it's a slow start since I started at a time of uncertainty with kids not knowing if they were going back to school after the holiday.

Good to know. That's interesting how the timing matters. I hope it picks up soon!

I LOVED it! I had to quit to take care of my father, but as a SAHM it was such a good schedule and income! Apparently now with the virus people are making LOTS of money.

I started teaching for GoGoKid (same concept as VIP) and love it for extra money on the side. I also teach 2nd grade full time and two small kids so I am very flexible with my schedule at GoGoKid. But even on my lighter weeks, I still love having the ability to bring in the extra money!
