Hi everyone!  So I’m about to pull the trigger on pet insurance for my pup.Hi everyone! So I’m about to pull the trigger on pet insurance for my pup. For those of you with a Trupanion policy- since you’re able to choose your deductible how high of a deductible did you go with? My pup is 3 years old and I got a quote for $76. 94/ mo. (this price includes the recovery & complementary care rider) $500 deductible per condition 90% reimbursement. I would also have a sinking fund for deductibles. My vet accepts direct payment from them which is a HUGE plus. I’m looking for input from those of you who have experience with a Trupanion policy specifically. Thanks

Following bc this is the only insurance I found that pays upfront. I’m thinking of switching from Figo ($250 yearly deductible and covers 100% including exam fees, except well check ups. We pay $56 currently a month) but it’s reimbursement. my pup is 1. 5 yrs old so def thinking of switching before he starts to have any pre-existing conditions.

Does anyone have an older dog? Do the rates go up as the dog gets older?

Typically yes, but maybe someone else can verify for this company? I looked into it way back when I learned of pet insurance, but at the time, my dogs were 4, 5, 6 respectively. the cost to insure my 6 year old was MORE per year than I had ever spent in a year on his bills, even with an emergency trip once a year. so DEFINITELY sign up when they are young puppies! Not to mention they can be quick to call anything a 'pre-existing' condition.

I pay under $50/month for my pet insurance for my 4 year old dog. $500 deductible, 80% reimbursement and $250 wellness allowance. Embrace pet insurance

I have loved Trupanion. They saved us close to $6k in January. We have a lower deductible and don't have any of the add on services so we pay about $60 a month
