I am creating my own worksheets until I can purchase the BBP workbook. Then I had a strange thought, if I am attempting to save money into a sinking fund does that count as savings? It just my regular savings cou t as savi gs I have 5% of my check so about 40 every other week go automatically to savings but wasnt sure if envelopes counted since I wouldn't be using some of them every month?

Sinking fund money (car repairs, Christmas, home maintenance etc. ) I count as savings. Variable expenses money (food, household, gas, etc. ) I do not count as savings.

Just did my first monthly recap in my BBP workbook, was wondering how others track their percentage of income saved if they have 401(k) or other pre-tax investments.
