I hate budgeting and trying to “explain” where are money goes. It makes sense in my head but trying to explain it to my spouse exhausts me. Anyone have to do this and any success stories? I use the expense trackers and paycheck sheets but it is never enough. All he sees are numbers.

I have my husband watch the YouTube videos and/or read what I’m reading before we do our budget together. That way we’re both on the same page when we meet at the table to budget.

I think the easiest to do is just to write numbers down on paper that say things like housing, food, each utility, and then put the numbers next to them. Total that is going out & total that’s coming in. Keep it simple.

Actually it was the opposite for us. When we would talk about where our money was going without writing it down it didn’t make sense. Now we can both see where it’s going and why we are in this financial situation.

Keep documenting. It works. It’s important. It’s real life. He’s in denial about something or just doesn’t understand. It’s your future. Keep the faith and know you are doing the right thing.
