I made sure, at least once a year I take my daughter and I on a trip somewhere and have fun. I have money saved up to go to Colorado springs. Drive by car. Colorado springs and seeing denver Colorado as well. With this C-19 virus going on, I'm so conflicted on going. This group has people from different states and I dont talk to many people. I need advise. Should I go or stay home?!. This is our first trip and I cried just thinking about canceling things. Thank you in advance. Sorry to bother.

Go! The media is blowing this up. More people die from the flu every year. only 2% of people are dying that get coronavirus. think about the percentage of people who get the flu that die, or cancer, etc. I’d go, use proper precautions and enjoy your daughter! ’

I’m a flight attendant. go! Travel is important. Just follow the cdc guidelines. Wash your hands and use alcohol based hand sanitizers if you don’t have access to wash hands.

Still go! I’m in NJ and flying with my two kids to Florida in one week. Just wash up and be smart! My challenge will be trying to keep my 1. 5 year old from licking the plane ‍♀️‍♀️

I honestly don’t know what I would do. I definitely take part in the keep living mentality, but this seems scary. If you and your child are immune-compromised, or you’re super close (physically) to your parents or other older people you love I probably wouldn’t go. Assuming you’re both healthy people and won’t see your parents shortly after your return, I would probably go. Take care, do all the preventative measures the cdc recommends, and try not to worry. I say that, but I’m the worlds best worrier

I live in Colorado. No coronavirus here, just the flu which you are more likely to be exposed to. The flu still kills more people a year. Just have good common sense when you are out and about, and wash your hands and avoid contact to your face. You should totally be fine.

If anything, being out in the open would be better than a city full of people. Also, you shouldn’t apologize for asking a question, like it’s inconvenient to anyone. That’s why this group exists. You’re not bothering anyone.

Go and enjoy! Work at an urgent care in Florida (so we get a lot of people from all over the country and world) and I’m not more worried about this than I am the flu. Up ur vitamins, wash your hands and be smart. I would definitely be going if I were you.

I'm in Denver, and to my understanding, Colorado has no official cases of the virus yet. I say yet because I think it's unavoidable, but I would do your trip. Wash your hand regularly and use hand sanitizer when opening doors, being in public. Avoid hand contact with others and avoid touching your face. I'm sure you'll both be fine.

Oh and the weather is beautiful here right now, but as a newbie, I'm being told we are currently experiencing"Fools Spring"

I’d wait, mostly because I’m not a fan of winter road trips. Whenever there’s a real chance of snowy roads or storms, I just wouldn’t. That’s my own hang up. If you do go, I’d practice vigilant hygiene and just be really aware. Whatever you decide, be safe and have fun!

I live in Denver and as of right now, nothing seems to have changed around here. Costco was low on toilet paper but that's about it. It's also beautiful here right now, weather is sunny and 60. It snowed Monday though so ya never know  live your life!

I would be less afraid to drive than fly. You aren’t exposed to so many different people from so many diff places. Follow the above great advice regarding hygiene and a few cautionary actions and go make wonderful memories with your daughter.

Go if you both are otherwise healthy, you only live once, wash hands often. And while I’m thinking about this one thing I noticed when I took a vacation out of the country a few years ago was every restaurant provided hand sanitizer at all the tables like why do we not have that here ? But hand washing is best.

Go! The number of cases are predicted to peak in April. Just make sure your taking your Vitamin D and getting plenty of Vitamin C. Unless you have underlying medical conditions even if you did get it you would recover, just like from any other type of virus! Have fun! Colorado is beautiful

Absolutely go! The risk to the states right now is still extremely low, and with good hygiene practices and not confining yourselves in a tight space with a lot of other people (ex. Cruise) I think you guys will be fine!

GO! In 9 days I'm off to London and the only thing that will stop me is if they close the borders! Just wash your hands, don't touch your eyes, mouth, or nose much and you should be fine.

You can still go! Driving is way better than flying. Covid19 is airborne. Just make sure that you don’t touch things outside if you don’t have to, if you hear or see people coughing or sneezing to just stay as far away as possible. Coughing and sneezing can go as far as 10-20 feet if they don’t cover their mouth/nose. Bring a hand sanitizer with you and always wash your hands every chance you get. Flu viruses are far worse than covid 19 it’s just because of social media and news that makes it sounds scarier than flu. A lot of more people die from the flu- I think covid 19 sounds scarier due to the fact that it’s a newer virus than flu strains. But! Coronavirus strains have been around- there are minor strains of coronavirus too just like the flu. You should enjoy and cherish this moment with your daughter. I’m excited for you!

I would definitely go! I live in WA where we’ve had 9 deaths and multiple cases all within a 30 min radius of me, and I don’t let it stop me from doing things! I’ve just been extra cautious about washing my hands, making sure my kiddos do the same. Don’t stress it and have fun!

It’s just a flu. Like any flu. Standard precautions. Lots of hand washing. I bring Clorox wipes with me when we travel and wipe down remote knobs switches. That kind of stuff. Go and have fun
by (4.1k points)
@tybi other than the rate of spread, mortality rate and % of people that require hospitalization. I don’t think people should panic, but to say it is “just like any flu” isn’t accurate based on what they believe today.
by (8.2k points)
@vanhorn actually it is. If you take the mortality rate against the population where it is it is the same. It’s like any other flu. Swine sars all we’re going to be devastating. We are different than the rest of the world. Better sanitation less contact with people.
by (4.1k points)
@tybi - Well, that isn’t what the experts are currently saying. Not saying everyone is going to be devastated, but I have read many things from the CDC and scientist that contradict what you are saying. Do you have a link to a reputable source that says it is no different than any flu?
by (8.2k points)
@vanhorn if you actually go away from the hysteria and look at the data and take into account the population sizes it’s easy math. If you take the people who have died in China a billion people. and see how many. Actually died the number is low. Remember also that China kept everyone in the dark and so it spread faster and easier there. It’s no different. If it is I’ll be wrong but i don’t think so. It is contained like any other flu. Hand washing and proper sanitation. If you are super young, old or have weakened immunity you should be extra cautious. Seriously. Look into the data yourself.
by (4.1k points)
@tybi - I have done a lot of reading. I agree that there are a lot of unknowns, but the experts are not dismissing it as easily as you are. We certainly aren’t in disaster mode at our house, but as my mother, who is in a high risk age group, lives with us we are taking precautions as advised by the experts.
by (8.2k points)
@vanhorn no one is saying anything about not taking proper precautions. But they are the same as regular flu precautions. Nothing extraordinary.

Be smart and use hand sanitizer and don't go sharing drinks with somebody. This virus isn't any worse than the basic flu that passes through every year. I've been watching the news cause I live near Seattle where the ONLY people in the US have died from Coronavirus, and they have all been elderly or have other health issues. I have a dance studio and the advice I've been given by a friend at our local health department is to use Lysol spray on light switches and door knobs and our ballet barres. I say go and have fun! (Then again, I am a strong believer in what the Bible says. that our days are numbered before we are born and if our time to go comes. it will come no matter what we're doing. THAT gives me a LOT of freedom from worry. )

Life is too short live it if you don’t stay home for the flu then you don’t stay home for this unless you or your child have compromised immune systems. it is a cold 81% of cases are mild those with problems or die are over 80 or sick from something else
