This week has been a BAD week. So Monday I decided to quit my full time job (I haven't done it yet but will be on Friday when I see the manager). I have the part time job to fall back on and they will be able to give me as many hours as needed as they are short staffed. Let me back up. things have been going downhill for about a month and a half at the full time job. Shortly after I was hired the manager told me he thought I might be a good assistant manager or manager. So I got my hopes up. A month ago he hired a major jerk and told us he was a key holder like the other two of us. Monday afternoon he finally admitted to my co-worker that the new guy was assistant manager. He never even told me he was looking to fill the position and I can't stand the new guy so I feel very betrayed and like I can't trust him anymore. He does not know that I know any of this because overnight there were tornadoes in Nashville and I wasn't able to go in. (Not even sure if I'll be able to go in tomorrow evening. ) With that being said I had been starting to look for a new full time job on Monday before the power went out and now I don't know what jobs are still available or still around. Roads are still blocked and shut in some areas so I can't even get very far to look. So I'm falling back to Indeed. Basically I guess I am looking for advice on whether I'm doing the right thing and what I should do? The thought of even going into work most days lately has made me sick and I'm dreading tomorrow. Any work from home job suggestions are welcome as well.
This week has been a BAD week.

It is so much easier to get a new job while you still have one. My advice would be to not quit until you have secured a new full time role

And for all you know there is an honest reason why this person was hired over you. Don’t go blowing things up until you have the entire story

Never quit a job unless you have something to replace it. Why?! You never know how long you could be without that income. I know it sounds so simple. I understand about being miserable and treated like crap, but have you actually sat down with the manager and talked through everything with him? There might be a justified reason he did what he did. Sometimes, you have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture and try to keep your emotions out of your decisions so they aren’t impulsive and rash.

Keep your job. Natural disasters change the job market drastically.

This is a tough one. Last year I quit my job without having a backup. I was treated horribly and there were some really shady things going on at the company I worked for. I told myself it would be no big deal and I could find another job. It took me FOUR months to find another job. I was so thankful that I had just received a big tax refund to cover my half of expenses, and my fiancé received an amazing promotion shortly after- but it was so hard and stressful. But at the same time I don’t regret it- my mental health was priority at that point. So you really just have to weigh everything out and do what’s best for you!

I would 100% have a conversation with your manager. I understand where you’re coming from with being pissed, but he may forget that he made a comment about you becoming a manager. He may not know that you’re frustrated with the situation. Go have a professional conversation about how you’re feeling, you might just come out with a promotion. Do not quit or mention that you’re thinking about quitting until you have something lined up.
