Uugghh don't you hate a fake bank balance . My rent check hasn't gone thru along with a few bills . Really have $940. I can't wait to have no debt ! . Do you still continue your debt payoff while on unemployment?

That’s why I keep a running register and don’t go by my bank account. I only look at it to make sure nothing is being taken out that shouldn’t be and making sure things are coming out like they’re supposed to. I don’t rely on it for day to day stuff. I’m not on unemployment, but with the current state of things I’m focusing more on savings than debt.

I would personally be in storm mode and save everything I could and pay the minimum on my debts. The last 2 months we've been stockpiling our extra money, having a super lean budget just to have as much liquid cash as possible. We could honestly pay a fat lump sum to pay off my husband's last bit of student loans, but we are going to wait until the economy starts to bounce back because you never know.

I hate that too! Our mortgage company takes almost a week to draft our payment from the account! And then we had to pay taxes to state and local and we’re only able to do with a check, so now I also need to wait for that money to clear! Hate it!

On unemployment pay the minimums if you have some that are small debts and can afford to throw extra go for it. but I wouldn’t be going crazy.

I have 2 checks out. one for a collection company and one for a hospital bill. I'm praying these places are still checking their mail!

I pay rent with a cashier's check for that very reason. I don't trust them not to hold onto it for weeks and weeks. And I need that money gone out of my account.

We bank with USAA but have our car loan and two credit cards with chase. It takes chase FOREVER to pull the money from our checking account. It’s so annoying lol. And yes, we are still paying off debt but my husband and I both have secure jobs.

@brahmin I have USAA too. What I did is open a second account and pay things that take a long time to come out from that. I transfer the money to that account for the payments. So my main account is routine stuff like groceries and gas.

We’ve done that before! It doesn’t usually affect us as we pay for everything with credit card, it’s just annoying more than anything

I will continue paying. I actually be paying more thanks to the increases to UI. I’ll save, pay extra on debts, and get things done at home that need it.

Ha yes. My boyfriend apparently bought a digital game on his xbox that doesn’t release until April 30th so it won’t draft until “more than 10 days before release date” so lord knows when that will happen. Let’s just pray I don’t forget before then because I refuse to pay overdraft fees

@gasworks135 this is why I set up sinking funds  my husband gets all the sports games on pre-order. If you haven’t done so, set one up for the yearly live subscription. $60/yr vs $12/mo $144/yr ($80+ in savings! )

Lord, I haven't even though about that. He just got it a month ago because he got a new job travelling a lot and he gets bored in the hotel. Thanks for the advice!

I keep a register so I know what the actual balance is at all times. I never just look at the bank balance.

It takes a couple days for my car payment. I keep track of all of my expenses on a spreadsheet so I know what actually available. But yeah, it’s the worst

I'd pause on extra debt payments while unemployed
