Help please!  I’m starting to budget for a list of moving expenses.Help please! I’m starting to budget for a list of moving expenses. I’m only moving a few miles away. So I’ve got the obvious expenses listed such as moving truck, change out the locks at new house, shower curtains, window coverings, washer and dryer (currently renting and now I’ll be owning). Can you think of other expenses I may be missing? I’m planning to decorate slowly, but what are some essential things you had to spend money on when you first moved in that couldn’t really wait?

This will sound weird but every time we move, we buy new toilet seats. My husband has this thing about them, no matter how well you clean them, somebody else’s bottoms have been on them.

I just did all this. Lol you have the basics but lightbulbs, a security system (something I couldn’t wait on) locks for any gates, lawn mower if you have a lawn, bug spray or service, service AC if it hasn’t been done recently.

And I waited to grab a deal from Home Depot for my washer and dryer and it just came in today. I am so happy! Lol. This will be an amazing experience. So enjoy it!

@rieth did you buy a display or something with an imperfection? Or was it just a great sale price?

We had a bug guy come spray before we moved stuff into the house. Best decision I made! Refrigerator if you don’t have one. I moved from all tile to mostly carpet. Luckily I had a small vacuum until I get a bigger one. Doorbell camera/outdoor cameras if you want them. Internet hook up costs. Food/drinks/snacks for people that are helping you move if you aren’t getting movers.
