Look for advice.  My husband and I have never been late on any payment what so ever.Look for advice. My husband and I have never been late on any payment what so ever. We didn’t realize that one of his student loans was not part of a 6 month grace period after graduation and Navient never called to let us know we were late. So they marked his credit for being 90 days past due even though we consolidated the loans and they got paid off 15 days after they reported that. We tried contacted them and pretty much they said too bad and to fight it by disputing it on credit report. Haven’t gotten anywhere with that either. What can we do because now it’s a huge mark on his credit?

The federal forbearance isn’t at 90 days yet, so the payment was already late it sounds like? And then 15 more days so over 100 days late. Was it truly that late? If so, you may not have any ability to fight.

@siskind this was prior to covid. My husband went back to college and after you graduate you have 6 months before payments are due. In the meantime we started to consolidate all of them. What we didn’t know was a really old student loan wasn’t part of the 6 month grace period and they never told us.

I’m not sure there’s anything you can do. If it’s over 90 days past due, the forbearance hasn’t been in effect for that long. Maybe if you noticed it after 30 days they could’ve helped but all you can do is ask.
